The way I do it is to repeat the algorithms until you get it into muscle memory

and try to time how long you can do it, if you got faster, it means you kind of got it in your muscle memory

Be more involved when you are trying out the algorithm the first few times.

Identify patterns and triggers. If the alg is too hard to grasp, just use Yo notation to memorize it as an image.
