Reduction vs K4 vs Yau

If you ask me, Redux and Yau are about equal for 4x4x4, and K4 is a bit worse but still capable of pretty good times. K4's big weakness is the F3L movecount, even though the lookahead is great in that part.
I'm not sure if you have seen my document for solving a dedge in one algorithm (assuming both wings are not solved), but for the 4x4x4, no more than 12 btm is needed for any given case. Here's my post. As you can see on the second page of the document, the average move count for these cases is a little less than 11 btm. 1/3 of the 211 cases can be solved in 10 btm or less, less than 1/4 may require 12 btm, leaving a little less than half of the cases to require 11 btm.

Also to everyone who hasn't seen my posts in that thread, I have another document which contains some very move efficient 2 2-cycles.

so ive had my 4x4 for 2 days( my first one to) and this is my breakdown using yao

centers: 50-75
Edges 25-35 (32223)
3x3: 30-45

See my real problems is the centers, i think my edges and 3x3 are ok. is there Anyway/good guide to improve on the centers.

Thanks

Sorry for bumping this 4yo thread. But this is the exact point. After 4 years, what do you all think about K4 vs Yau? It seems most records are set with Yau. So is K4 really dead? I'm starting to get into 4x4 and want to pick the method that has more potential. I'm wondering if it's the case K4 doesn't have as much potential as Yau or it's simply not as developed and practiced as Yau.

The reason Yau is good, is because it expands on what (most) people already know, I don't know about potential, but assuming you solve with CFOP, there is no point to not using Yau.

It's like CFOP vs ZZ vs Roux when it comes to Hoya, Yau and K4. Each has their own merits but one happens to be used most often so has the fastest times whereas one is new and, while efficient is more complex and less popular for that reason while the other is seen as a bit hipster (not that there's anything wrong with that) and so is less used for that reason.
