Just curious how long do you think it takes the average cuber to get to:

sub-1 minute: one week(more or less)
sub-30: around 1.5 months
sub-20: 6 months
sub-10: 2.5 years
sub-9: 3 years
sub-8: 3.5 years
sub-7: 4 years

it took me a while to improve at the start because
1. i didn’t have access to tutorials for a month because a typhoon came and gave us a one-month black out (luckily a generator was available but no internet)
2. my motivation to cube wasn’t like it is now, i was more of a chill cuber back when i first started

sub 20: I mean I have gotten a 19.08 ao5, but not yet

How long did it take you?

I started out in 2008,

It took me a few months for sub-1

I got sub-30 as soon as I ditched my Rubik's brand and was able to get my first speedcube, Dayan Zhanchi

Sub-20 took a few months,

Sub-10 official took 11 more years lol

Here's how long it took me:
Sub-minute: About a month
Sub-30: About 4-5 months, right after I got my first speedcube, the tornado v3
Sub-20: It's been like 9 months and I'm at the threshold

My parents are a pretty big factor in this, whenever they get mad they just take all my cubes for like a couple weeks and the frequency of this has slowed me down a lot. They also aren't very supportive of me buying stuff for speedcubing, like I can only restock lube and buy another cube on average every 4 months without them being like "You just bought more cubes wait a little before you get any more" BRUH

you should be grateful you can get cubes every 4 months
I only get like one cube every year (maybe 2 if i’m lucky)
a lot of my cubes came from raffles from comps and gifts from my relatives
but i don’t really bug my parents or say that i want to get a new cube even though they are very supportive because… idk it’s just me
I’m not the type to ask for things

this is also probably why i’m a specialist and not an all rounder

basically they just randomly generate a competitor’s name from the comp and whoever’s name appears they get a prize (it could be literally anything, one guy got Tim Tams once)
