[Help Thread] Pyraminx Discussion

I average about 7, and I use beginners method, so it definitely possible using a beginners method. I think the next step is L4E, intuitive or not, until you are sub-6 with it. I would also learn Oka, Keyhole, 1 flip, and Petrus, because a lot of the people that are fast know a lot of methods to take advantage of scrambles. Ultimately you should learn WO and Nutella methods, as they are the fastest. I would highly reccommend checking out all the methods here though so you can make an informed decision: https://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Pyraminx_methods

Thanks yo

I use beginners to average low 4/sub 4 you just need to get higher TPS and I am learning to 1 look with LBL lol

Don't take this advice. There are sub-3 people on 2x2 with LBL, but that doesn't mean you should use it. While it's possible to be that fast with LBL, it takes a long time and is very hard, and it's way better to just learn L4E or something else

I have a stickered pyraminx and I have this problem when I can't grip it properly.

Does anyone know if there are grippy stickers that are wca legal.

If someone from speedcubeshop sees this please make pvc coated stickers.

1. Are your hands clean when you use your pyraminx? Oily/dirty/sweaty hands could contribute to a less than optimal grip on your pyra.

2. How long have you been doing pyra? It's one of the events where it's hard to hold until you get used to it a little bit more.

3. I personally don't know if there are any specifically grip-designed stickers on the market, nor am I sure if textured stickers would be legal. I have standard moyu stickers from one of their 2015-2016 pyraminxes, and the stickers are perfectly fine.

My hands are always clean.

But my pyraminx is often oily due to lube.(when I clean it, it will become oily after 15~20 solves)

I have been doing pyraminx for 3 years.

Should I use L4e or use top first. I know that most of the pro pyraminxers use L4e, but look at drew brads. I’m more inclined to use tip first but I don’t know if I should. What should I use?

Top first is harder to get good at, but easier to be world class at. They both have the same limit though, and L4E is intuitive

I would recommend top first - most of the best pyraminxers use it - drew, tymon (he is method neutral but prefers top first), John gaynor,
i use lbl and have seemed to get decent times with it
the only "great" l4e user is luke van lanningham
