I printed out this template, http://www.rubiks.com/world/download/12panelmagic.pdf

But for some reason, when I printed it out the green doesn't fade properly, there's just a line that goes straight from dark green to light green.

Here's a scan of it to show you what I mean, SWScan00489.jpg

Does anyone know what causes this? Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

It's a HP Deskjet 2050.

The resolution/mode was Information, for some reason you cannot change it to anything else in the drop down list, it says that the following is for informational purposes only and clicking on anything wont change anything.

And the media setting is on plain paper, normal quality, if that makes any difference.

Try setting your printer to best quality.
It does mean consuming a fair amount of ink (does the background have to be black?)...

Yeah the consuming of all that ink is what I'm concerned about, not so bad if the print out works out, but if it doesn't then I've just wasted a load of ink.

I would actually like to have a different background colour, but I don't know how to change it. I did try moving the PDF into Gimp 2 (art program), and I tried changing the background, but then the rings would look pixelated around the edges.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Unfortunatley I did actually try printing out the template in better quality before I saw your post and PM. And, the lines on the green bits are still there.

I also, looked at a print out that I did several weeks ago of the template, which was in greyscale, I guess I was just testing things out. And the lines are still there.

Weird, maybe it's some sort of incompatibility issue between my printer and the pdf file.

I guess I could always ask someone I know to try printing it out for me.

What background color do you want it? I can go into GIMP and swap out BG colors

Well that's the strangest thing. I've just printed out the light cream PDF, and there are no imperfections on the rings.

I'll post a pic up of the magic once I've put it together. :)
