[WR] Patrick Ponce - 4.69 3x3 single

The thing that struck me in this solve is that there were absolutely no rotations in it (unless you count the r'). Also how he did the BR pair first instead of the FR pair so he could set up the FR pair while also inserting the BR pair. If it were me, I know I would have used way more moves than necessary to do the FR pair first and then the BR pair. All in all, gj Patrick Ponce

Where's the memey quirk in this video? This video is too standard like Mats Valk's WR it's going to be broken quickly.

Did you see the judge at the end? Also on fb it's decided the meme is FELIKS IS NUMEBR TWO NOW

Also funny on fb that there was a poll recently about who would be the first to have two 4s and it was considered outlandish those who suggested max would get 2 first, yet Patrick goes ahead and gets 2 in 4 solves!

Congrats! With 4.69 and 4.96 in 4 solves (2nd round into the final), had the stagger been slightly different those two would have been part of the same average and he would have had the first ever counting 4.

the 4.96 single:

Who cares if your biggest concern is memes then you have your priorities out of order. To me it seems a lot of people only care about memes which is unbeavilable.

From looking at his 4.96, it looks as though if someone were to learn full 1lll and be able to sub1 all the algs then f2l could be forced sub3 making sub4 possible and sub5 average but I think it would require an easy f2l and a sune or ta very simple OLL to form any chance of a sub3 ever. But most of the top cubers probably do 100000 solves a year. Meaning 27 last layer skips per year so I think the UWR will become sub3 this year but it will probably not happen in a competition for a long time.
I think 1lll will eventually be necessary to better world records but not yet.
But I don't think anyone has noticed that if he had his 4.96 solves f2l with his 4.69 solves ll then he would have got sub4 based on @Brest s figures

How many moves do you save on average with 1LLL? The recog is probably pretty slow so unless the algs are really good PLL prediction during OLL might be faster.

Without edge control or other techniques it is pretty much impossible.. You can go for ZBLLs or LSLL stuff, but not pure 1LLL.
Sub3 single at home is inevitable. Feliks with his 3.01 showed that it's possible.

For the better WRs part, I think that in the distant future LL skips will be necessary (sub3.2 or below). There are more and more fast competitors, more competitions so there will also be more official LL skips.

If you assume that there are 100 competitors able to get WR single, each competing once in a month with 17.5 solves (3 or 4 rounds) then there will be 1-2 official LL skips a year. Not very optimistic but we will get to that point eventually

Bindedsa already knows more than half of 1LLL and gets sub-6 at home with them, proving fast recognition.... Definitely possible.

Now when i think about it it should be quite easy, OLL can be predicted during LS, CP recog is ez pz and EP shouldn't be so hard since you always can see two stickers on U.
