I want to start learning the PLL/OLL algs. I've gotten to an average in the 40s with F2L and then beginners LL methods.

I know you can learn only parts of PLL and OLL and still get better times than beginners LL.

I've heard you only need like 7 of them? I've tried this with no success. It seems I haven't memorized the right combo of PLL/OLL.

Basically, I'd like to know what algs you can get by with when just starting to learn PLL/OLL. I think it's like "4-look" LL?

I know there are posts related to this topic already out there, but they haven't answered sufficiently. Otherwise, I'd already be doing them.:)

Yes, you should start with 4 Look Last Layer (4LLL). That means solving the last layer in 4 steps. 4LLL includes 2 Look OLL and 2 Look PLL. 2 Look OLL has 9 algorithms, and 2 Look PLL has 6 algorithms. Using 4LLL, you can get your Last Layer times down to less than 8 seconds (that means A LOT I mean A LOT of practice)

Here are a list of all the required algorithms you need for 4LLL
