One-Answer Big Cubes Question Thread

I want to get faster at 5x5, could someone give me some tips? The method I am using is a basic reduction method.

I don't see any 5x5 solve videos on your channel. No one can specifically help you with being so vague. Also try to restrain from posting the same thing in multiple threads.
Please post a video of at least 1 5x5 solve (preferably more) and someone will likely help you out. The only piece of advice I could give you is that if you didn't already, switch to Freeslice.

is there any way to solve the last 2 edges on a 5x5 and up without algs if so how if not which algs do u recommend i learn

I want to buy a ShengShou 5x5 on lightake.com
I am not able to find it. Does anyone know if they even have any? Maybe I'm just blind, a link would be great in that case :D

Any other cubing shop that has 4x4+5x5 ShengShou in Stock and accepts PayPal?

buy a yuxin 5x5 not shengshou

I've forgotten an alg and I've not noted it. It swaps the UF and UB middle edges on 5x5. It was all r/r' (or r2?), F2 and U2 moves. Orientation isn't an issue. It was simple and I liked it. Any ideas?

im really slow at 5x5 my timesamps are
centres: 1:30
edges: 2:30
3x3: 1:00
what do i need to improve or should i just keep doing more solves

I just think you should keep solving and maybe see some example solves.
You can also see some of Kevin Hays videos with the 5x5(or other cubers). They have good tips...:-D :-D
Good luck ! :-D

what would splits for sub 2:00 3:00 and 4:00 on hoya for 5x5?
I'm by no means a fantastic big cube solver (mega, 3x3, oh are the ones I practise mainly) and I average around 2:50ish give or take a lot cause I don't practise.

My splits are
F2C:45-50
F4E: 40
L2C: 10-15
L8E: 50
3x3: 20

That said I have no idea how normal those splits are though I'm pretty sure edge pairing need a lot of work.

what would splits for sub 2:00 3:00 and 4:00 on hoya for 5x5?
I analysed a bunch of top 5x5 cubers' reconstructions, applied some reasoning to extrapolate from Yau to Hoya (because there are very few Hoya5 reconstructions out there), and came up with the following as target splits:-

F4C - 27%
F4E - 16%
L2C - 4%
L8E - 30%
3x3 - 23%

I am wondering if any of the 5x5x5 solvers here track their total movecount instead of split times. If you were practicing for a fewest moves challenge, what movecount would you be striving for in the case of the 5x5x5?

If this 5x5x5 cube...

visualcube.php

...has this 13 move solution:

3R' F 2R' F' 3R F 2F2 2R F2 2R' 2F2 2R F

...then if you "flip" the top and front faces 180 degrees like this:

visualcube.php

...what is the 13-move solution to that?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.

3R U' 2R U 3R' U' 2U2 2R' U2 2R 2U2 2R' U'

Thanks. My program finally found it overnight.

I don't know why it didn't find it one move sooner. r' U2 r u2 r' U' should be in the 6-turns-from-solved database and therefore 7 moves + 6 = a depth 13 solution. Instead it found it as an 8 moves + 5 solution. Strange.

Thanks again.
