One-Answer 4x4 Question Thread

If your ready to slice back make sure the pieces are on separate layers
Example, if you sliced to the left first, and you put down a edge that contains blue red on the bottom slice place the other blue red on the top slice.
also if its in the middle take it out and replace it with an unsolved edge, then put the edge in place

What alg can I do to swap these while preserving everything else?

Sorry, I have to ask a noobish question. I have quite a bit of experience on 3x3 but this is the first time I've tried a 4x4. When pairing the first 3 edges in Yau 3-2-3 edge pairing, you have the option of slicing with a Uu or a Uu'. I watched some tutorials which seemed to differ on which way to slice. What is the generally accepted "better" way to do it and why?

I don't think there is a better way. People just do whatever they prefer.

What's the fast 4x4 OLL parity alg thst uses wide moves?
I use:
Rw2' F2 Rw U2 Rw U2' x U2 Rw U2' Rw' U2 Rw U2' Rw2 U2' x' [U2]
Other people also like the front-back mirror:
Rw2 B2 Rw' U2 Rw' U2 B2 Rw' B2 Rw B2 Rw' B2 Rw2 B2 [U2]
Another popular alg:
Rw U2 x Rw U2 Rw U2' Rw' U2 Lw U2' Rw' U2 Rw U2' Rw' U2 Rw'

The first two algs do double parity, but this doesn't matter when you're solving, since you don't care about the permutation of the last layer when solving OLL.

4x4 corners not orentating correctly, i need help!

i recently got a shengshou 4x4 and i have spent the last couple of days solving and looking at tutorials. My process(from a tutorial) as to first solve the centers, then pair the edges. i make the cross like a 3x3. after the cross on the white i put in an edge to the correct spot. in the video there were algorithms that got the corner into the correct spot. i am starting to memorize these, however when i was solving the cube earlier today, the corner did not enter the spot correctly, the white face was down with the other whites, but the two colors were switched. can someone tell me an algorithm to switch the corners or tell me what i am doing wrong?

Can someone give me tips on sub 1:40 4x4
I do centers like reduction
First 4 edges like reduction
And last 8 edges like yau.

Is there a 4x4 method that reduces it to a 2x2 instead of a 3x3? I would like trying some new methods.
