One-Answer 4x4 Question Thread

Wrong. It's possible to swap two edge pieces on a 4×4×4 without swapping anything else. (Fun fact: this is the case for 4×4×4, but on larger even-order cubes, it's not possible to swap just two edge pieces while leaving all the centres and corners intact. Proof is left as an exercise for the reader.)

Does that include hidden layer pieces, as in my 2x2 example?

No, because they're not part of the logical puzzle. What if I'm using a Rubik's brand, which doesn't have any hidden edge pieces? The answer to "is this possible" shouldn't be dependent on the internal workings of a specific brand/model of the puzzle. Hell, if I'd wanted to be a hyper-pedant (like I sometimes am), I'd point out that the springs might have rotated while you were solving the puzzle…

Fair enough. I really don't know where to start on the thing with 4x4 vs. Higher-order even puzzles, but I have to admit I'm very curious.

For Yau, is there any advantage in being y2 neutral and sometimes forming opposite color cross dedges? Or have you guys seen it be more advantageous to just stick with one cross color. I'm just as fast after redux since I dual-cross on 3x3, so thats not an issue
It's better to be yau CN because you just have to memorize 2 extra colour schemes and their inverses.
Helps with centres. Use on specific colour for every 2 opposites and use the other only if you find an easy edge.

Is there a 4x4x4 cube Solver online or something. I can’t solve mine and it’s messed up smh.

I don't want this to sound in any way abrasive but it's a puzzle. Unless you have a twisted corner, or the wrong number of pieces of a given color and type, it's solvable. It may take a while to solve, and you may need to look up some instructions, but it'll be that much better when you finally do figure it out .

Already tried that to no avail.

In your other thread, you were saying you could not understand the tutorials and algorithms. This would most likely be a little harder to understand, as no one is explaining anything and there would just be letters on a screen.

I have lost my aosu center cap and want a replacement. the cubicle has one saying center and another center piece. which one is it?

If I understand correctly, you have lost the center cap.

If you order the "Center", you will get a 4x4 center (piece AND cap) with one individual sticker.

The "Center Piece" is the square thing that goes around the round thing in the core. You dont need either of these.

None of these apply, so click on "Other" and specify that you need a center cap with "blank" color

Thank you for the answer! I Can use the aosu again after I get the piece

As you can see. In the final step of the beginner method it has 2 "good" cornera and 2 bad. I have tried several times and it is impossible.

As I know, one corner should have been turned accidentally.

Please, could you help me find the wrong corner or how to fox it

Thank you!

Did you mean to attach a picture, because I don't see one.

Either way, it doesn't matter which corner you turn. You can always reduce the cube to a single twisted corner and twist that one at the end of the solve.

I attached 5 pictures. It must have failed. I send you the images again in this comment.

And this is how it looks when finishing 2 corners.
