I just got into OH and I use my right hand but with the R face on top and the U face on the left so I can do R and U algs. However, it seems that most people use their left hand, even right handed people. So is the way I do it just as good or should I switch to my left hand?

If you are use a lot of <R,U> moves, then use your left hand. They are easier to perfom than doing <L,U> Vice versa if you are a left handed solver and use a lot of <L,U> moves. Although this may not always apply to scenarios, I'll stretch a limb and just say that there are more left handed solvers than right handed. Whatever works for you, works for you.
