Hate to be mean, but that's why this is a "fail thread." People get off topic, and now it's a discussion on kindness than it is on improving.

to hopefully help save this thread from going in the wrong direction hopefully i can give some words of advice that will enlighten you to why people are being absurd and help your cubing! as well as enforce what people have said.

you can spend countless hours searching the forum, asking questions, starting threads out of frustration, but we have all been slow at one time or another (some of the member are still not even sub 5 min im sure). you can take your time to seek for the answer you are not going to find or you can take your time solving the cube. there is no miracle.. yes, there are some bad habits you can gain (petrus (j/k), bad OLL/PLL, many cube rotations) but naturally you will break these as you become faster because you will identify what is holding you back and find a way to improve it.

a GOOD example from my experience. when i was not even sub 1, i would only insert F2L pair in the front of the cube. only insertion i would use was R U R' or L' U' L. i would ALWAYS cube rotate instead of trying to insert a pair into the back. If there was a case where i had to hide the edge, place the corner above it, i wouldnt do it. i would cycle the orientation of my corner (i.e. if white cross, white sticker on corner facing up, i would R U2 R' to have the white sticker face left or right on the corner) I knew it was slow and was a bad case, so i naturally searched for a method to solve this case easier. same thing with OLL and PLLs... there are many OLL and PLL that i have learned many different algs for, just because i didnt like the one i used (they were slow).

there is no quick way. you have to find out what your weakness is by actually solving the puzzle. dont be afraid of developing bad habits, because you can always change what you do (as long as your willing to work hard to change)

When I was as fast as you I was using F2L and i was cycling edges and corners (F R U R' U' and SUNE) on my orientation and my permutation algorithms were also cycled. Even though my last layer sometimes munched up 15 seconds or more of my solve I was improving my times. When you pick up your cube all you need to worry about for practice is solving it over and over. Although eventually many algorithms and F2L cases will be executed autonomously, you currently need to be very aware of what you're doing as you solve the cube. Don't solve blindly, look at what you're doing and how the cube moves with each turn and what cubies end up where after you execute an algorithm or F2L insertion.

But everything he asks has already been answered again and again. This forum is fine as long as you're not an idiot.

No matter how harsh Anonymouscuber is being it's true. I had to search all over the internet to get help and figure out what to do on my own prior to the form. Their is the "How to get faster at Fridrich" thread and countless others. Next time search around before you ask questions that may have already been answered. BTW I'm glad you are improving! Keep it up!

im no expert.. however looking at your pll attack.. id say your pll was ok for your times. id say it needs to be cross optimisation and f2l.. i dont think your taking more then 5s on your oll... so thats 7s last layer.. you should be able to get f2l done in 15s... leaving you a avg of 22

Thats my account... and I know im not SUB 20. But I'm going to the competition for fun because I want to. And for like personal records. But I really just want to get all of my solves at least 45 seconds and most of them are like only (avg) 1:00 total.

I really need help... is there anyway someone can tell me something besides SOLVE SOLVE SOLVE.

I know fridrich (2look oll and pll) so im set for that but is there anything that can help

:fp

Be patient like the rest of us and practice. There is no magic shortcut.

Yeah actually i do cross in maybe 5s and f2l in like 30-20 and yeah my 4look maybe 14. But my f2l is so slow because i pause allot; :/

If you're pausing a lot in f2l you need to practice looking ahead the most.

I wouldn't. He's still improving consistently without changing anything really. And furthermore, I didn't start learning look-ahead until I averaged around 25 seconds.
Look ahead is definitely a must in the future, but for right now, I think it's just recognition he needs help on (taking half a second to find the pieces instead of 2).

Full PLL may help, I'm not sure how soon this competition is, but if it's more than a month, Full PLL would probably take a couple seconds off your time. 13 more algs isn't that bad. A metronome during your F2L may help. Possibly try looking through some F2L tricks and trying to use some in your solves. Work on building your cross more efficiently. Look ahead and try to not have pauses. Some people are saying just solve, solve, solves, but if you actively try to work on these things when you're practicing, you will improve much quicker.

Learn PLL, then start adding OLLs. Practice the **** outta F2L. One thing that I've done before is when I'm finishing an f2l slot, I stop/slow down before inserting it, and find the next pair, so that I can start the next pair IMMEDIATELY after finishing the previous one. Once you get good at this, you can try to find the next pieces while solving the current slot, without stopping. That's all that lookahead is. Also, practice all of the algs you know until you can do them without looking/thinking and without having to set the case up. I've known to many people that can't perform their algs without seeing the case on the cube, which isn't a huge problem, but I believe it says something about your recognition and execution.
