Hi! I'm Timo, a 16-year old boy from Finland. I'll share my story on how I got into cubing.

I learned how to solve a Rubik's cube last November with my several years old Rubik's brand. My first solve was about 6 minutes. Soon I slightly modded it and quickly got faster. A month later I already achieved 50-second singles and about 1 minute averages. Then the cube broke :(. I ordered a shengshou bundle from eBay because I didn't know about any other cube stores. It took 6 weeks to arrive. Before it arrived I bought some other cubes as well, from The Puzzle Store UK. They all came at the same time and I started to practice continuously. With my 3x3, my first solves were about a minute.

Now I have practised non-stop for the past month, got some new cubes and in my opinion I have managed to drop my times really fast. I went to my first competitions last weekend, and my mains and averages are

2x2 (YJ Yupo) - 7 s
3x3 (Thunderclap) - 26 s
4x4 (Kungfu Cangfeng) - 1:40
Pyraminx (Shengshou) - 10 s
Skewb (MoYu) - 15 s

Now I'm trying to practise also OH, Square-1 and bld for my next competition. I think this is a really nice hobby, you can do it any time when you have little spare time. I also like this forum a lot!

If you are averaging 26 seconds on the 3x3 after around 2 months, you are doing amazingly well and have huge potential..!

I assume you are using CFOP with full OLL/PLL, or something else?

Yeah, I know about 25 oll and full pll. Just need to work on look ahead and algorithm speed.
