My 6×6 Journey – Chasing the sub - 2 dream

New Personal Best --- 2:56.17 🎯
In solve no. 1465

Congratulations guys,

Another step forward! Broke my previous PB and set a new best at 2:56.17. 🧩✨
All that practice is finally showing results - the countless edge pairing and center drills really paid off! The solve felt super fluid with barely any hesitation.

The Art of Classic Reduction

After 1500 solves, I wanted to share something that means a lot to me --- my respect for the roots of big cube solving.

In today’s era of advanced methods like Yau, Hoya, and hybrid approaches, the classic reduction method often gets overlooked. But for me, it’s not just a method --- it’s an art.

Reduction was the foundation of all big cube solving. Every modern method evolved from it, and even today, it holds its own beauty --- a rhythm that connects the old and new generations of cubers.

Through my journey on the 6×6, I’ve realized that consistency, patience, and flow matter more than constantly changing methods. With enough practice, the reduction method can still produce incredible results --- smooth, efficient, and deeply satisfying.

It may not be about which method is fastest, but about how well you master the one you choose.

I’m proud to carry this tradition forward--- preserving the legacy of classic reduction, which will always remain the purest form of big cube solving to me.

Let’s keep the art of classic reduction alive. 💫

Thank You and Happy cubing everyone! 🧩

After sub 3, what is your next goal?
Honestly, nothing specific. Practically speaking I don’t want to chase any crazy time that I know I can’t reach. With a non-magnetic cube, getting a 2:56 felt amazing, maybe with a magnetic one I could push it to around 2:45 or 2:50 someday, but probably not much lower. I still use 2-look CFOP, so for now, I just want to improve at my own pace and see how far I can go. Hitting sub-3 itself was something I never really expected.

All the posts look like human generated ai lol(they sound like a human that just writes exactly like chat gpt)
Honestly, I don't write like chat gpt, I write from chat gpt 😂, the thing is that when I post some text, not this one😂 so i just want it to be read nicely, so I give chatgpt my idea and ask it to make a polite version of it and polish it a bit then i post it, or you see in my update post also, the tip is from chat gpt, obviously the idea is mine, but I want my update post well structured, polite and organized, without any grammatical error. Like for example when I post the Art of Reduction I give chat gpt my thoughts and ideas and it made a polished version of it and then I posted it. But for me it does not matter, weather its from chat gpt or not, idea is all mine and only thing I care about is progress, dedication and also not to offend anyone.

From Session 23/10/25 to 09/11/25 - 1600 Solves

It’s been a while since my last update, but I’m excited to share the next chapter of my 6×6 journey - steady progress, slow solves, and a lot of learning along the way.

I made my first post here after completing 1100 solves, and reaching 1600 now feels like a great motivation to keep going. Still enjoying every solve and learning something new each day.

I’ve been focusing more on slow solves lately, which is why I haven’t done many dedicated edge or center sessions, so no specific update on that for now. And don’t mind the late post; my exams kept me a bit busy. 😅

Total 6 by 6 solves: 1600
Personal Best- 2:56.17
Mean- 4:11.79

TODAYS TIP-

The Art of Slowing Down
Sometimes, improvement means learning to go slower.
When I forced myself to turn slowly but look ahead faster, my overall times dropped.
The goal is not faster TPS - it’s fewer pauses.

QUICK QUESTION-
Which is better timed practice or slow solving for long-term improvement?
Also, how to balance both? If slow solves are better in the long run, I’d like to focus more on that.

CONCLUSION-
Crossed 1600 total solves today! My ao5 is sitting at 3:25.69 and ao12 at 3:26.73, which feels nice and consistent.
I’ve seen a serious improvement since I started logging my progress - both in flow and overall control.

Thank you, and happy cubing everyone! 😄🧩

Small Announcement + 6×6 Update

Just wanted to share two quick things today:

New Arrival – Ordered a 7×7!

I finally ordered the QiYi Warrior Magnetic 7×7, and I’m pretty excited to try it out.
Once it arrives and I spend some time with it, I’m planning to start a new thread for my 7×7 journey --- just like my 6×6 series.
It will be fun exploring a new big cube and seeing how the experience compares.

6×6 Progress – Reached 1700 Solves

On the 6×6, I’ve now completed 1700 total solves.
Still keeping up with consistent practice and slowly building mileage.
Nothing major to report this time - just steady sessions and enjoying the solves.

More updates soon - and hopefully my 7×7 cube arrives quickly so I can begin with the next chapter.

Happy cubing everyone! 😄🧩

New Record in Solve #1717 — 2:47.96 🎯🔥

Just dropping in with a quick update --- solve #1717 gave me a brand-new personal best: 2:47.96
Didn’t expect anything big today, so seeing that time pop up honestly got me hyped.
Moments like this just make the grind feel worth it.

Super happy with this one!

Happy cubing everyone! 😄🧩

Quick Update - 1800 Solves Completed

Just hit the 1800-solve mark today, and wanted to share a small update.

I still can’t believe I managed a 2:47 on this old non-magnetic 6×6.
Honestly, I never expected to go below 2:50 on this cube - but getting that 2:47 has given me a lot of confidence.
Now I feel like going even faster is possible.

Next milestone soon.

Happy cubing everyone! 😄🧩

🤣 Reality Check After Touching a Magnetic 7×7

I finally tried my new magnetic 7×7…
and now I’ve realised something very important:

My old non-magnetic 6×6 actually sucks. It feels like a loose brick.
I seriously don’t know how I ever broke a 2:47 on that thing.

I was fighting gravity the whole time 😭💀.

The moment I touched the 7×7, the cube literally whispered:
“Welcome to civilization.”

The 7 by 7 feels so light and smooth that when i went back to
the 6 by 6, it feels like a grinding machine.

Now I truly understand how much magnets help.

But I’m not buying a magnetic 6×6 right now.
After some time (once I recover from this 7×7 purchase 😅),
I’ll definitely plan to upgrade my 6×6 too.

Until then…
I’ll keep bullying my poor old non-magnetic cube a little more.

Thank you and happy cubing!

“Hey everyone!
My Drive storage is almost full, so from now on I’ll be uploading my 6×6 solves directly to YouTube instead of Drive.

This will make sharing solves much easier, and the videos will be accessible to everyone around the world.
I’ll keep posting the YouTube links here whenever I upload a new 6×6 walkthrough or update.

If you want to follow all my big cube content here is my channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Big_Cubes_Specialist

More 6×6 content coming soon! 😄”

After surviving 1882 solves, my non-magnetic 6×6 finally gave up during solve #1883 😭
It literally said:
Nope. I’m retiring. I can’t take any more torture.

I think the cube saw me doing 7×7, 8×8, 9×9 solves and panicked.
One wrong turn and BOOM - instant self-destruct mode 😅

I tried to fix it also, but its non magnetic so its popping again and again while fixing.
So now I guess it’s time for an upgrade…
I’m planning to buy the Meilong 6×6 V2 magnetic, because clearly my old one had enough of throwing its pieces everywhere.

Update on the 6×6 situation 😄

Okay guys… I probably should NOT have posted that “my 6×6 is broken” update so fast 😂
I know how bad it feels when your mood gets ruined - not because the cube died, but because you realise no new cube is coming anymore 😭

So don’t get too excited - I have both good and bad news.
Good news: I actually fixed my “broken” 6×6, using tape at every layer so that it will not pop.
Bad news: No new cube for now 😂

And while fixing it, I finally understood the true importance of magnets 😅
Now I’m basically holding the cube together with tape and prayers.

The cube exploded at solve #1883, but with some creative engineering and a bit of tape magic, it’s alive again.
I’ll let you know before the new 6×6 actually arrives.

This cube has seen things. It’s basically held together by my willpower and Sellotape at this point 😅
until then, this taped warrior is back in action.

More solves coming soon! 😅

Happy cubing!

1900 Solves Update on 6×6!

Reached 1900 solves on 6×6!
The journey is getting smoother, and now I’m focusing on making every advanced detail cleaner and more efficient.

Right now I’m not pushing for crazy times or trying to break my PB on 6×6.

My goal is to stay consistent under 4 minutes instead of chasing sub-3.
Since my cube already broke once, I’m not pushing it too much - I’m focusing more on smooth, controlled solves and keeping the flow steady without going over the 4-minute mark.

I’ve also tightened it a bit to reduce lockups, which is why my average has gone slightly above 3:50.
Right now I’m focusing more on stability and flow rather than speed - keeping my cube safe 😄

One tip I want to share:

Try to make your centers beautifully and efficiently.

Don’t just drag pieces around - try to think deeper about how a center can be built more advanced, with fewer regrips and fewer wasted moves.
The more efficient your centers are, the better your entire solve flows.

Thank you and Happy cubing!
