So I have two versions of the RS3M V5, the Dual-Adjustment version and the Ball-Core UV.
I wanted to use the BC version at a comp, but sadly… It was not WCA-Legal, the cube had deformed corners, and the main problem was the UV coating. The UV adds weight on the pieces which can cause the cube to chip a corner if dropped. (I’m pretty sure this is a problem only for MoYu UV coated cubes)
So I decided to swap the ball-core and corner pieces from the BC cube to my normal RS3M V5.
The best part about this idea is that the cube won’t be UV coated, and it has Ball-Core, which is unlike many MoYu BC cubes. (besides the RS3M Super 2022 BC)
I disassembled both of the cubes, and started the work.
I swapped the cores and the corner pieces, and now everything works well!
My ball-core cube no longer has any UV coating. Which is a good thing! (MoYu UV coating is garbage) 🗑
The cube performs great, and is lighter than the stock BC cube.
Since I used two cubes, the other cube is UV coated, and is just a normal magnetic cube with no big features. (It’s still not comp legal tho)
If I were selling this, would you buy this rather than the UV coated version?
What are your thoughts?
