Hi everyone,

Within the next few months, I'd like to work on becoming LR "mirror" neutral. By this, I mean being as fast as my right hand with my left hand.

At the moment, I am a predominately right hand cuber, as are most sub-20 cubers (my usual average is 14-15). I seldom use my left hand for things other than an occasional L' U' L F2L case or U'/F' in an alg. However, I think I can greatly cut down on rotations, improve overall speed, and cut the number of algs to learn for methods like ZB in half by becoming "mirror" neutral. I also think that an equally fast lefty/righty double (U2) trigger would be nice :).

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum already is "mirror" neutral, and if so, would they be willing to share some tips/advice with me and the other forum members wanting to become "mirror" neutral?

Thanks!

It would be very nice to be neutral. I am would say that my left is pretty good (I'm right handed) but whenever I have the chance to do right or left, it would always be right, even if it took more moves on f2l. My "lefty" algorithms are nearly as fast as my "righty" algorithms, with my left T perm only around .1 second slower. However, I can't do double turns smoothly with my left. Like I would not be able to do L U2 L' U2, as demanded with the left R perm.

That is a great idea, and would take A LOT of practice, unless you are part ambidextrous. I don't even do left handed finger tricks really, as I do L U' with left left hand and then do the U' with my right thumb.

I have the luck that I am ''mirror neutral'', I think without it I would not be sub 20 average. At the beginning I was too lazy to learn a totally new alg for an alg, so I memorized the patterns, I think I am one of those ''ambidextrous'' guys, since I have no problem doing R U R' or L' U' L etc...:)

I have been working a little bit in the past on doing all my algs other-handed so I could OH with both hands. I can do my f2l RUR' L'U'L just as easily with either hand and can U and T perm either hand (on the left side is so slow tho). I wonder if this is easiest for left handed people since we are used to using both hands.

I am ambidextrous, so I have a bit of an advantage with that, but I know some tricks that could help you out overall. Mostly all you have to start doing is little things with the opposite hand. This works for right or left handed people. Any by little things I mean just that.. open the door with the opposite hand, pick up things, eat with the fork traded to the opposite hand.. keep your wallet on the opposite side of your pockets, even write with the opposite hand. If you play musical instruments, switch the positioning of the hands if possible... this works best for drummers... just any thing to strengthen the opposite hand.. work it more... heck, do everything with the opposite hand..
hope this helps
