Differentiating between mirror images on big cubes

I've been getting into big cubes for about the past year. Right now I'm averaging roughly 1:10, 2:20, 3:40 on 5-7. I just got my first actually good 6x6, and the oblique pieces have been giving me a hard time. So I want to seek council on identifying different shapes in the center-building stage.

I'm going to use the text editor emoji system to show my graphics. Hopefully it displays properly.

On 6x6, you'll encounter pieces that are physically different from each other, but are mirror images:
⬛⬛⬛⬛
⬛⬛⬛🟥
⬛⬛⬛⬛
⬛⬛⬛⬛
vs
⬛⬛🟥⬛
⬛⬛⬛⬛
⬛⬛⬛⬛
⬛⬛⬛⬛

And on 5x5, you'll encounter combinations of pieces that are different, but again mirror images:
⬛⬛🟥
⬛⬛🟥
⬛⬛⬛
vs
⬛🟥🟥
⬛⬛⬛
⬛⬛⬛

On 5x5 and up, there are many pairs of shapes that have are reflections of each other, where either shape cannot be obtained from the other through a rotation.

My question here is this: Is there any sort of labelling to each of these mirrors (e.g. oblique piece type 1 vs oblique piece type 2)? Do people practice with a labelling in mind, or do they just naturally accustom themselves to differentiating them?

I ask this specifically as I have tried to expand my toolset with centers. Sometimes I'll have a shape with a mirror, and I'll want to build a complementary shape for it, where this complementary shape also has a mirror. But I quite often get the wrong complement.
