Lubix Fusion?

I had an idea that maybe it was the Illusion type cube that Donovan had on his youtube account, but after seeing this thread and thinking about it for a bit, it will probably be something a bit less aesthetic and a bit more practical. :P

They posted an update! Not all the details.... but just juicy enough!

It appears (my speculation) as if Donovan and/or Ben have been working on some designs for plastic.... either cubies, cores, full cubes, or aftermarket attachments.... I guess we'll have to wait a little bit longer.... GRRRRR

UPDATE! 7/1
Hi Guys.
I know a lot of you are patiently waiting for me to release the FUSION, but the manufacturing is not done yet. I spoke to my manufacturer, and he said it should be ready on the 8th. (I’m holding my breath as well).
I’ve been working on this project since April, so the timelines are best guesses. I’m past the CAD Design and Stereo Lithography part of testing. Tooling should be done this week.
I’m still not going to release details about exactly what it is yet, but when it’s ready I will have an update here with plenty of information, as well as videos of it on my YouTube channel “LubixCubes”.

Good news though:
I did speak to my cube distributer, and I’m first in line (from him) to have the ZhanChi sent out. He said “early July”. So there should not be any delays in getting them in and turned into Ultimates once they are on the market. Once I have them in my hands I will be listing them here on my site, and will begin shipping the following day. I will keep you posted on this as well.

Lastly, Ben and I have designed an adjustable cube tensioner so that all types of 3x3’s, and several other types of puzzles such as the MegaMinx, Pyraminx, 5x5, and other cubes that have an adjustment screw via a center cap can be tensioned perfectly... every time. It looks to be accurate within a 1/8th turn.
Does anyone have interest in this? I have a prototype being manufactured, but before I go big scale in production, I want to know if other people would be interested in buying one. It will likely be manufactured out of ABS plastic, and the estimated price for it will be $9.99.

Also, congratulations to Feliks for his new WR of 5.66! The cube he used was a White DaYan ZhanChi.
Just goes to show while our cubes have world record potential... the person behind the cube is what matters!
Again Congrats!

Well, thanks for the patience. I assure you it will be worth the wait!

Thought i might as well post the full thing so everyone is is lazy can see it

Lets hope that this new cube doesn't somehow infringe the v-cube patent :P

I'm not, yet, convinced that it's a new cube... My guess is that it's either a new core (seeing as Donovan has always been pretty hard on the regular Dayan cores) or it's a drop in aftermarket attachment for the edge pieces of the good old GuHong.

The GuHong (at least the one I have...) has a slotted hole at the bottom of each edge piece. One could mold some sort of plastic piece to fit in there and offer some kind of benefit. The LunHui torpedoes just don't fit without some serious modification as mentioned.

Woah! It seems to be an actually original product, not just a modification of an existing one!

All you have to do is cut the arms off of the torpedoes. And if they don't fit then there's some excess plastic in the guhong edges. It's an easy mod.
