Looking ahead versus faster algorithms

I was just wondering which would be better to work on to reduce my times to a greater degree, being able to look ahead really well or getting really fast at the algorithms? Obviously both would be nice but I'd like to practice one of these first. What is your opinion on my best bet for my practice sessions? Also if you're into SRV check out my youtube channel and leave a comment: http://www.youtube.com/SRV88blues

Could you be more descriptive? Can you post your individual times for each step? (please use this timer)

I see you use the method Dan Brown teaches on Youtube. Your cross and F2L is about done 35 seconds into the solve, and your last layer takes 25 seconds.... I think you should continue doing layer by layer but execute the algorithms faster. You should learn 4 Look Last Layer (4LLL) for you last layer to improve the speed. I think 4LLL is easier to learn and understand then F2L, and it will drop your times more quickly. 4LLL can get your last last to times of 15 seconds or less if you try hard. Also, looking ahead isn't too effective in layer by layer... You shouldn't need looking ahead at your level, anyway, executing your algorithms fast will cut down 10+ seconds off your time without learning anything else. In 2 weeks I went from a 57 second average to a 38 second average, so if you try hard, you can probably do that too.

Another thing. Get used to using finger tricks - they will help you A LOT. I know you're just learning them, but they will get your REALLY fast. Your LBL algorithms are pretty slow (no offense) so you should use your finger tricks to speed them up. Same goes for the last layer.

Looking at the video, your cube doesn't seem to be too broken in. Also with practicing, your cube will naturally break in which will allow you to cut corners, that can also reduce your times. other than that, I'd follow Rubik's Cube Fan's advice.
