Hey, there! My name’s Meg, and I’m a 38YO SAHM of two girls, ages six and four.
Having young kids as my only company most of the time, I like to find new mental challenges to keep myself, and my wit, sharp.
I tried solving the cube on my own, but only managed one face and most of the sides, so I learned the beginner algorithms a month and a half ago. Took me a few days. I’ve been solving it daily, though, and leaving it for my family to scramble, so I can keep practicing and not forget.
It still takes me about eight minutes to do, but I’m just glad I can. I’m a creative, right-brained person, so straight logic is often tough to wrap my head around. Even though I love puzzles and math, my trig teacher in high school labeled me a “reverse thinker” since I have a knack for making anything easy difficult, but seem to intuitively understand difficult problems.
I’m a writer and digital creator, running mostly mom-humour accounts on FB, IG, and Twitter under the same name: MegsHAUSTED. Recently, I’ve become more active on TikTok to indulge my love of dancing (not with skill, mind you), and creative videography. We’re also theatre nerds in this house, so there’s an acting component to the short lip-syncing videos that’s fun.
Anyway, I’m not sure I have the patience or endurance to learn all 80 bajillion algorithms needed to become efficiently speedy, but it’s a challenge I’d like to give a fair shot.
It’s a fun party trick for me, at least.
