Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

I kinda failed a sub 5 avg on clock in the weekly comp so I practiced a bit to get one anyway and now I have a 4.75 so that's nice. I also DNFed a 3.71 single by 1 tick, which is less nice. I'm thinking about finally lubing my clock for once, since it's kinda way too slow rn, but is Gan standard lube any good for that? (It's still the only lube I have lol)

I got a 34/36 MBLD today (32 sub hour), and I might do one tomorrow as well just to see if I can handle 2 MBLD attempts on consecutive days or not. Yes, I will also practice 5BLD as soon as I get motivation (i.e. probably a week before the comp)

pretty sure I have heard Rowe Hessler say almost the exact same thing ✨
omw to WR2🔥

I also DNFed a 3.71 single by 1 tick, which is less nice.
Now I have a non-DNF 3.71

34/36 MBLD again, this time 33/36 sub hour, so 30 points. The total time was still 1:11:59.45, but that's because I spent 12 minutes trying to recall the edge memo of a cube and the last few pairs of another. I ended up remembering the first of these, but the other one I guessed (wrongly). Then there was one cube off by a 2-twist. I'm hoping to do 3 more attempts before my official attempt on March 2nd.

Almost PB clock average with a counting 6 lol:

Edit: I forgot that I could roll it, I got a 5.28 on the next solve so that's a 4.53 avg yayyy
Gonna try to get sub 4.45 (although this average was really lucky so it's not very likely), i think that would be my first unofficial sub NR result in a non-BLD event. Gonna need to hurry up though, because I don't think the 4.45 will stand for long.

First sub 7 3x3 average: 6.99!
Quite overdue, but still really cool. The last solve had a y2 rotation to find a pair and still was a 7.17 lol

I tried someone elses (ootb) clock today and was averaging quite comfortably sub 5 on it, so I really need to fix my clock. Apparently some parts of the transparent plastic broke off on the inside, which I suppose explains why some dials really require effort to turn.

Oh and I timed my memo a few times to check if it was sub 15 and to my surprise it's around 6-8 seconds every time so that's funny

The last MBLD attempt before the comp saturday ended up being 32/36. I still haven't gotten a sub hour attempt, but on several attempts (including the last) I didn't do anything anymore after the hour, so in a sense those attempts were sub hour. I'll just try 36 cubes saturday and see how it goes ig.

I'm severely lacking 5BLD practice, since I've done only 3 practice attempts yet, but the last one was a 4:31.56 (success) so I think I'm fine.

I completely blacked out on the last 8 cubes so yeah that was sad (27/36, more DNFs than ever)
Kinda regret completely focussing on multi and not on 5BLD at all now
the heavier task of doing mem for 5bld, with so many more pieces on that cube to deal with, might well be a good stretching exercise for you in terms of mbld as well

Competition recap:
MBLD started really well, I was done with the first 8pack memo+review at 6:25 (the attempt before this it was 6:24 haha), and the second 8pack memo+review+review 1-16 was done at 19:01, which I think is faster than ever but I'm not sure. The 3rd 8pack took atrociously long, so I was at ~31 minutes and kinda had to rush the last 12 cubes. Then, during exec, I started execution on the wrong pack after the 3BLD cube. I realised it right before putting down the first cube in that, so I could still undo it. I checked the video, all of that wasted 1:10. I then proceeded to solve quite well, until I got to the last 8 pack. I noticed no other people were solving anymore because I didn't hear any cubes, which really scared me because that meant time was almost up. I didn't remember anything from 7 out of 8 cubes in that last pack. I think if I didn't waste that minute and didn't black out, I would have had time to solve 6/7 of those cubes, because I spent 2:20 just trying to recall cubes and doing random algs meaning I wasted 3:30 total. However, maybe I should've just attempted fewer than 36 cubes to lower my nerves.
5BLD also didn't go well, but I didn't practice that and I have another round in april so I don't really care.
FMC went well I think, with 33, 32, 36. I also found a 35 on the last one, but didn't have time to write it down.
And for 6x6 I borrowed my friends cube who actually sets up his cubes so I got PB single by 11 seconds and mean by 17. A little closer to NR4 kinch now.

What was the eventual score in MBLD?

next logical step is to speedrun super mario world one handed

I have competition with 2x2, 3x3, OH, clock and skewb tomorrow. 2x2 and 3x3 goals are still sub 2 and sub 8 avg. OH and skewb aren't very important, but I finally lubed my clock today (yes, one day before the comp, optimal decision), and it's super easy to get sub 5s now, as long as I don't overshoot any moves (which happens a lot now that my clock is suddenly fast). I only have one round, so I think I'd rather safety a 5.5-5.8ish average than try to go as fast as I can. There will only be 3 people who already have a sub 6 average so if not everyone suddenly learnt 7simul that should mean easy podium.
