Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

Then about the comp in december, they changed the whole schedule of that. Good decisions: reducing the number of clock rounds and moving 3 2x2 rounds to saturday. Bad decision: keeping 5BLD on sunday.
I know, pretty bad how clock only has 1 round now, there are almost no clock rounds this year (Only 4 this year; one at Kampen, one at dutch open, one at nats and one at ermelo.

We are going to the same comp, you wanna meet?
Yeah, cool!

Weren't there like 2 clock rounds at the 24h comp?

Ok so my signature still says road to MBLD WR, but I haven't done a lot of MBLD this year. Probably like 7 attempts at most. I realised that, when I have time, I often want to do an attempt, but as soon as I think about scrambling all those cubes again (trust me, it's a chore), I decide not to do it. I have decided that I'll want to practice my memo skills without doing MBLD attempts. For this, I have started to make a list of words for numbers. First, I want a word for all numbers from 1-100, then from 1-1000. I'll practice my memo with numbers in the same way as a MBLD attempt. That is, no 'memorizing the first so many digits of pi' or something, just have a random large string of letters to memorize, which I can forget as soon as I have correctly recited them. Once I actually have a list of words, I'll see if I can write some code that lets me do this the way I have in mind.

As for actual MBLD attempts: who knows, maybe practicing like this will actually motivate me to do some attempts?
(Also I need to buy cubes)

Good luck in Keulen today
Well, your good luck wish worked😂
I did quite well overall. PR avg in all events. 8.35 clock average somehow, I still didn't practice. Sub 5 pyra avg, 5.66 skewb average.
OH started very poorly in the first 2 rounds, and finals was also trash but I got a 15.88 PR avg placing me 4th somehow. Should have been mid 14 avg, the scrambles were really good. F2L was solved at 7 seconds on the last 2 solves, but both ended up a 15.

And the pyra and skewb singles are just crazy.

8.35 avg wow that's insane because you just got a clock a few months ago (I think) Fast improvement! Do you use Flip or 7-Simul

Thanks!
I use flip because my 7sim memo isn't consistently sub 15 due to lack of practice.
And yeah the 8.35 avg was pretty good but the scrambles were really good so I'll probably have to start practicing if I want to beat it again

Scrambles of my eternal PR singles in pyraminx and skewb:
Pyraminx 1.88: R L' B' R U B R L B R' U' u' b
Idk how to write rotations on pyra but you hold the green-red bar at the bottom left, with green on the bottom face.
l U R' U R' u'
Yes I did onelook this, I found out that I do that in pyra surprisingly frequently
Downsolved it to 1.21, which is sub NR (1.24), but I'm really happy with my execution in comp nonetheless. +2ing solves like these is totally something I would do, and I don't deserve anything close to NR anyway because I suck at pyra.
Skewb 2.77: L R B L' R' U' B L B' R' L
Idk skewb notation, I suppose the rotation would just be z2.
I saw 2 layer solutions for orange: insert the orange-green-yellow with one move, and then the remaining 2 pieces in 2 moves. I saw that doing orange-yellow-blue before orange-white-blue would also solve the red layer. From there it's just a U perm (which I didn't see in inspection). I actually got the fastest skewb single in round 1, despite Elias Malomgré competing, who is 13th in the world. I guess I was just lucky to have garbage PRs so I was in the group with slower people, which happened to be the group with this amazing scramble.

If you do yellow, it is a 3 move solution(Harder to spot though) and u also get a U Perm! I'm glad you noticed which corner to insert first to get a better case, bc if you did other way you would have gotten 3 sledge case
