Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

7x7: didn't make cutoff
2x2: it's clear I didn't practice, I got two 3s averages (and an 11 single, nice)
4x4: idk how but I got two 38 solves again. The second round of 4x4 was 49, 38, 49, 49, 38. All 49s had the exact same PLL case (including parity)
Pyra: I borrowed my friends Gan pyraminx which made a sub 7 average possible without having practiced.
Skewb: got a 5 single, I guess that's nice? (Did 4 sledges instead of 2 inverse sledges though)
3BLD: at least I got a somewhat decent single (22.70) on the last solve, but I didn't get a mean again, this time because of a one move mistake on solve 2. Solve 1 was terrible anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Also I got a 19.99 3BLD mean in comp during practice, I believe the times were 19.xy, 22.xy, 17.xy. And lastly, 2 16s solves on easy scrambles other people pointed out, one of which felt like 8 algs which would be awesome if that really was the case.

Another 7-alger already (but fail):
L' D' L2 F' L2 F D2 F D2 F' D2 F D2 L R2 B D L' D2 F' Fw' Uw
I got 15.34 DNF:
The last two algs were [U R : [D2, R U' R']] [U R' U' : [D', R U R']] which you can cancel a bit so that it becomes U R D2 R U' R' D2 R U R U'D' R U R' D R U' R' U R U', but probably because I was nervous I messed up and did U R D2 R U' R' D2 R U R2 U'D' R' D' R U R' D R U' R', and then I also wanted to do the U R U' that logically would follow at the end but missed the R, so only did U U'. Essentially that made it so instead of VQ as the last pair I did TP.

Can you give me some advice?

My cubes arrived and I have now all wca except for clonk.

If you take your time to see my pbs on my sig, what would you advice me to practice and how?

I think I need work the most on everything except for 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4. from these 3, 4x4 is my weakest.

for 5-7, squan and mega, I can solve but it is really inconsistent and slow, I have to resort to intuitive tricks to solve some cases. (and I need to learn parity on those)

for pyra and skewb I know basic method but my fintergrooks are bad and I could learn more algs.

I want to learn 3bld too, I think I will try to solve the corners now that I have a 2x2 again.
I know speffz and how to solve each letter but I can't do memo and still not used to cycle break and stuff.
I can solve last layer blind with op but it takes some 3+ minutes

Sure!
For pyra and skewb I know close to nothing so I can't really help, for 4x4-7x7 I also don't have a lot of experience but for 4x4 I'd say it is really important to have good look ahead during edge pairing, as that is really the step where yau is amazing (although it says you use reduction, I would certainly recommend switching to yau if you haven't yet). For 5x5-7x7 I just kinda do whatever I see, but in order to improve I at those I feel like you just need to do timed solves, untimed solves and learn a bunch of efficiency tricks. If you do 3 moves too many on each center bar you make on 7x7, that is 3 x 5 x 6 = 90 moves too many on a whole solve, so if you can cut down on that by learning tricks that would definitely be worth it.
Mega for me is just not turning too fast so I can make sure to do the solve mostly without pausing, and learning 4LLL is also worth it. iirc Feliks has a nice alg sheet for that on cubeskills. If I were you I'd wait with 4LLL until you are sub 3 or sub 4 or something.
Squan is very algorithmic. You'll want to know how to do cubeshape without always resorting to the 8 edges on top case, which means you want to know how to solve scallop-kite and scallop-scallop, preferably from multiple angles. You can setup to one of those cases most of the time. Cube Master has a video on it (I believe it's called something like intermediate cube shape)
2x2 is also very algorithmic, make sure to know PBLs from multiple angles, learn at least the easy CLL's and try to plan as much as possible in inspection. One thing that can help to cut down PBL recognition time is to predict the permutation of the bottom layer. You'll only have to recognize the top layer this way.
For 3x3 I'm guessing you probably have a pretty good idea of what you can improve on most easily.
For 3BLD, LL blind can indeed be good practice, especially if you are struggling with cycle breaks. You'll encounter more cycle breaks in less time that way. Also try to do sighted solves with OP, without memorizing the cube in advance. That helped me get the method down a lot too. Still, I think getting comfortable with 2BLD first is the best way to go. Try to get 2BLD maybe sub 3 global, and then do edge only BLD, and then you can combine the two and do a proper 3BLD attempt.
Good luck with practicing!

thanks a lot!

I was doing 3x3 and during inspection I noticed a lot of solved pieces so I decided to try the scramble BLD, and I got 15.73 even with a huge pause on corner exec, but idk if I should count it because
1. I didn't have my blindfold with me so I just closed my eyes, which means the time for donning the blindfold wasn't included
2. I saw the scramble for quite some time before memo (although I didn't trace during that time, it might have helped, idk)
3. I specifically chose to do this scramble because it was lucky.

I don't think I'll count it, I'll probably beat it anyway next time I get a 7-alger

Just got my 2nd onelook F2L (F2L planned in inspection)!
Scramble: L' U L2 U2 L' D2 R' B2 R2 F2 R F2 L' B2 F' D' L' D2 F' L'
F2L: x2 UD' R' D2 R' U' R L' U L R U2 R' y' U' R' U' R
LL: U2 F R U R' U' R U R' U' F' U2 x R2 F R F' R U2 Rw' U Rw U2 B'
Im pretty sure inspection was within 15 seconds because I saw it really quickly, which I don't think was the case the first time I planned the whole F2L.
Got a 6.41, a bit disappointing but still a good time
