Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

I just realized I might have made a mistake during the comp saturday. The worst solve in my 2.30 2x2 average was over 4 seconds, but during inspection on that solve the judge didn't call 8 seconds. I got really focussed on when he would say that and I think that might have been the reason I messed up. If I had asked for an extra and gotten one with a sub 1.95 time, I would now have a 2.13 average...

Does anybody know if this would have been reason enough for an extra solve?
You would've gotten an extra if you didn't hear 8 seconds, called a delegate before you put your hands on the timer and solved it, and if you told the delegate that the judge didn't say 8 seconds.

Thanks! That is good to know in case this ever happens again.

I might buy an MGC 5x5 soon, because the current 5x5 I have is very locky. I don't know what brand it is (lol), but I know for sure it is majorly limiting my 5BLD exec speed.
My 4BLD exec speed is also severely limited by my cube; I use the MGC for 4BLD, but it is missing about 5 of those small internal pieces, so I have to limit my TPS to avoid pops. They still happen way too often, but I don't really feel like getting a new 4x4 yet.

Definitely get the MGC. It is the best by far the best, and although I am not very good at 5x5, it is definitely very easy to turn and turns more like a 3x3 than other 5x5's.

Do you use DR and HTR?
Nope lol, I can summarize what I did in a spoiler so in case you still want to do the scramble just don't open that, although it won't give too much away

I intuitively solved a 2x2x3, then extended that to F2L-1, and the remaining F2L pair could be done with a commutator that cancelled into an easy 1LLL I know. This gave a 32 moves solution, but I could move the commutator to the front, which would cancel the same way as it would with the 1LLL if I didn't move it, but now the F2L solution ended with U', and doing the 1LLL from a different angle (it was a symmetrical case) made that start with U. These 2 moves now cancelled out so I had a 30 moves solution.

I think if I knew DR and HTR I would do more FMC haha

Last FMC solve in the weekly comp was a 35, so that gives me a mean of 33.00. I had a 39 solution but right before sumbitting I found a completely different solution that was 35 moves.

That's enough FMC for the coming months😂
There's no such a thing as enough FMC

So there will be another comp I will (probably) go to.
Events: pyraminx, skewb, 2x2, 4x4, 7x7, 3BLD
For 7x7 the cutoff is 4:30 so I did a few solves in weekly comp last week to see if I could beat that and I appear to have a chance (I even got a 4:08 somehow), but my main goals are to get a sub 2 average in 2x2 and to finally get some 3BLD results that don't suck (If I practice enough I should be able to get a sub 20 single and NR mean but I have my final exams coming up so I can't expect too much of it)
