Innovation or stay station?

I've a feeling that Meffert's 3x3x3 has centers that "clip" onto the core. I may be wrong as I don't have one :-P

I had a bunch of cheap cubes like that and accidentally dropped one on cement. It broke :-(

I would sacrifice it, because frankly I don't really like it that much, and I have other cubes that I really do like. But I can't figure out how to get the damned thing open! Jason, if you'd like to take a shot at it I'll send it to you.

I think the Meffert's mechanism is somewhat similar to the Eastsheen, although Eastsheen doesn't make a 3x3x3.

I love my Eastsheen 4x4x4 and 5x5x5, but that Meffert's 3x3x3 just doesn't really cut it. I also have Meffert's Pyraminx, Skube and Ultimate Skube - all three of them are quality puzzles. They feel solid, they turn easily, and they don't lock up. But I really didn't like their 3x3x3.

HI abbracadiabra,
I wouldn't want to deprive you of your cube but if you do decide to open it up, take a few photos so we can have a look:)

Apparently, the 3x3x3 cube from Olympicubes has a different mechanism to the Rubik's cubik's cube. I wonder what it's like

Take a look at the Olympicube patent: http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=US2007057455&F=0&QPN=US2007057455
Go to Mosaics for detailed sketches of the mechanism of the 2x2 - 11x11.

Well, Teflon is carcinogenic, but above 280 degrees celsius. It's on almost all frying pans. And if you're afraid of using your frying pan now, just note that butter in a frying pan at that temperature has LD 100 (100% mortality rate on sujects when exposed to fumes during 4 hours, although the subjects were birds, hehe). So, teflon is carcinogenic, but so is MacDonalds. But you're totally right, the cube might be a bit slippery, it's worth a try tho.

I've just recalled looking at a teflon spray at the supermarket. I don't know anything about these kind of products. Does anyone know if it could be used as a lubricant?
