Hello all,

I'm a fridrich user who has memorized 90% of PLL and 60% of OLL algorithms. But I'm getting tired of these, and I already know 3/4 of COLL algorithms. So I was thinking... should I change methods? I'm really questioning whether I should finish learning fridrich completely because 1. it can't be used for FMC 2. I don't feel like memorizing the rest of algorithms 3. I'm tired of the method 4. My knowledge of COLL algorithms is currently almost useless for me that I've begun to forget much of what I had learned already

I was thinking of changing to Roux or VHF2L. I am almost completely unfamiliar with either methods, and I'm not good at blockbuilding -- although I'd really like to learn how.

What do you guys recommend? Should I switch to Roux or VHF2L? Or should I simply stick to Fridrich?
(If you recommend that I switch to Roux or VHF2L, could you also tell me their pros over fridrich as well?)

You don't have to use your main method for FMC. I use freestyle for FM and VH/Fridrich/Petrus for speed.

i would definitely, definitely recommend getting into ZZ - you can apply your COLL knowledge every solve!

EOLine is difficult to get used to, but there is plenty of stuff on here that you can easily find to help with this and other parts of the ZZ solve.

the ZZF2l doesnt have to be fridrich style either - on this forum 'matthew' is the fastest person ive seen at ZZ, and he blockbuilds the rest of the f2l after EOLine.

its also great, because 3/4 of the solve can be 3 gen, and half 2 gen :) (assuming you get a two gen COLL and EPLL - but that obviously depends on how you perform EPLLs).

anyway, have a play with it :)

Hmm... I was reading about ZZ and that's a lot more algorithms to learn (like isn't it 800 algorithms or something?) -- and I don't understand anything about EOLine at all. That's why I would like to get into Roux or VHF2L first.

no way do you have to learn anything (much) - you can have a 2 look LL on ZZ if you know 7 OLLs and 21 PLLs!

ZBLL is 500 algs (i think), you dont need ZBF2l (the other 300) (i think).

EOLine isnt that hard, with a little bit of practice.

Fanwuq is a fridrich and roux user, maybe you should ask him :)
and why not petrus too, anyway? you get to use COLL in that.

i don't know, that's why im asking here! :) I'm only familiar with fridrich, and I liked the idea behind roux while I didn't like the idea behind petrus. ZZ... EOLine is what bugs me so much. I'll probably learn ZZ after learning Roux or something else later... BTW, I was wondering, is VHF2L same thing as F2L in ZZ-VH?

VHF2L is like ZBF2L, but you have to pair the corner and edge first. There are then eight algorithms (and their mirrors) that flip all of the LL edges correctly for COLL.

If you want to do Roux but you're bad at blockbuilding, first solve the DR and DL edges. Then, solve F2L like in the Fridrich method. It's not the most efficient method, but it works.

are there any more Roux tutorials out there anyone knows of other than Giles Roux's? I want to look at a variety of tutorials
also, is the blockbuilding completely intuitive?

the 2nd block is intuitive.
To build it efficiently, you have to know a few tricks with the M and r turns to avoid rotations and doing it like Fridrich F2L.
