FTO and squoo (square 2 analogue of squan) have my vote. FTO has the advantage of being a unique puzzle with a good following that doesn't take too long or not very long to solve. I like squoo because it has a lot of potential development imo, and isn't all algs like squan, but still is similar to squan and there are multiple ways to solve it that, at least for the moment and from my playing around, seem to be pretty similar in speed and sometimes are very different to squan methods.

Team BLD is cool, but it would become broken too fast. Blind solvers who use the same buffers/letter schemes could destroy the event by just turning it into BLD with inspection allowed. Having said that, it would be insanely fun to practice with a friend over video calls, then doing warmup solves at the comp together, and then finally competing together. Back when I went to comps, I remember it was fun being in the same heat as my friends, I can't imagine how cool it would be to actually solve together.

About Every 'Add an event to WCA' Thread falls into good suggestions that lead to problems.

In 2x2, One-Looking isn't even seen as something overtly advanced anymore. It's basically just a hurden now. So the only thing that 2BLD would add is that dur to inspection counting you go with the first face/Tface/V you find. No new algs or methods needed.
2OH, for me is kind of the same in a different manner.(I think) you do 2 F moves and the whole solve could be 2G/ all algs are already 3G.
Kilominx(I'll put Kibiminx in brackets so that one guy doesn't kill me) is, in it's core, 2x2 Mega. There is a decent following, or should I say there was 5 years ago. I'm just now sure making an easier version of an event is the best idea.
Gigaminx is whatever. New way of doing reduction. Will probably go on to be the longest event with 5BLD. Master Kilominx however, would add the need to navigate and build a 12 colour-scheme.
Redi has a similar problem, there was a big following, by now it's gone.
Squoo?, although I like it for being a Square-Type, when you get to lazy methods, you join 8 Corners and have Sq1.
Many are advocating for removing 6, 7 or both, so 8 and 9 won't be a popular choice for the WCA board at all. Aprt from that you don't to a lot you don't already do on 6 and 7.
Relays, the bigger they get, just become 'x no inspection' the 3 no inspection debate was a thing 2 weeks ago, so make of that your own opinion.
FTO suffers from no good hardware currently existing without modding. It certainly adds a whole different way of solving.
Curvy Copter is the first Edge Turner if it way added, naturally being different from what we currently have in this lineup. Problem will be in scrambling. Misscrambles aren't easily corrected(in the sense that you may restrict your next move) and I know you guys hate misscrambles.

There are lots of bad ideas in this thread. If we had a good automatic scrambler for it (which wouldn't be all that difficult) Curvy Copter could be very viable. I'm not sure bad hardware is a good argument against FTO. FTO and Master Pyraminx are probably the most viable options at this point, after bringing back Feet.

These are all good points. If FTO had good hardware, there would be very little reason for it to not be included. It even has a random state scrambler, so that's all sorted.

I also like squoo, but FTO is definitely the better choice overall.

Anyone who suggests a 2x2 variant, no, please stop, please read this post. Kilo would be the only passable 2x2 style thing, but it's had its time unfortunately. @wca please remove skewb for similar reasoning (and 6x6+7x7 because they're just large and don't add too much).

Removing events is a bad idea. I'm not a fan of Skewb, it's a silly little event and in several years I think I've done maybe 200 Skewb solves, but it shouldn't be removed. 6 and 7 might not seem like much to you. In hindsight 7x7 doesn't add a lot that 6x6 doesn't have, it might have been a better idea to only add 6x6. Both should be kept as official events.

adding on here, removing an event is a big waste of effort for people who are good at it
