I find that my best speedcubes only last me 6-8 months before they turn to crap. I just gave my F-II the full maintenance treatment including washing every piece and cleaning the springs... but still it just doesn't turn as fast as it used to. Derp. Before that was my type A, which was amazing on day 1, and after a year I gave it away.

Had my GH2 as my main for about a good two months before i got a guhong.
The guhong didn't last long because i was curious and bought a memory cube.
Haiyan memory became my main for about 1.5months...but being the curious monkey i am, i bought a lingyun.
Lingyun has been my main for about 2 weeks to just this hour i ordered the new Alpha V(full)...

So ya <6 months for the time being because all these cubes keep popping up and i can't stay on one cube...

i haven't even been cubing for six months quite yet so it would be pointless to vote on this poll. I had my original Rubik's brand for a few months and then changed to an F-II maybe a couple months ago.

Average of 6 months, but mainly because of new cubes come out rather than the cube deteriorating.

My cubes usually lasts about a year (as in before becoming crap, not just simply switching cube).
Also my pink type C have been with me for >1yr now, I revived it even after it became crap.

See what proper maintanence can do to your cube? :)

I recently got a GuHong but prior to that i had a rubiks brand diy for almost 2 years
i kept really good care of it and i never had to replace parts or anything.

I was using my type a cube from when I started speedcubing, ~2 years ago, up until I got my GuHong around a week ago or so. Granted, I took quite a few breaks, so my type a wasn't extremely worn down, but I was just looking for something new as I was noticing a decrease in performance.

The first time i was into cubing was 2 years ago, and bought my first Rubik's cube = Storebought

it was crap so i try sading it down with sandpaper, stillnot satisfied, lubricated it with Cyclo silicone (because CRC isnt available in hardware stores here) there, it was like heaven (at that time) it was my main cube for about 2 years, yes, still kicking but had to replace stickers every 2 months. Then when i found out about the GuHong... There replaced my Storebought. Now my Storebought is in the shelves, collecting dusts :fp

For me, depends if the cube is still okay.

I change it whenever another cube is better than it.

I think my history has been
A2 (wore out)
F2 (A5 was better)
A5 (HM was better
Haiyan memory (Guhong was better)
Guhong

I recently ordered a lingyun, and an assembled a2.

I do the same as Feliks just get a new cube when a different one is better. I can't give you much history as I haven't received my Guhong, A5 or Lingyun yet.
Rubiks brand (broke)
Old type A l
D ll
F l
F ll
Type C core with Old type A cubies

Hopefully new cubes will be better
