i used a rubik's diy for years before it was getting too loose on me. i recently started experimenting with chinese brands - it seems that while rubik's cubes get better with time (to a certain point), chinese brands seem to just deteriorate fairly quickly.

if you use a chinese brand, which cube do you use and how often do you replace it? how does f-ll age compared to a-v?

A-V is sturdier in my opinion. The F-II's plastic feels cheap and thin, and I've only had mine for about a month and it's already starting to feel slower. I've had Alpha V for about the same amount of time and it's still perfect, I haven't needed to relube it, and also I've had an old Type A for about 2 years and it still is great.

If you take care of your cubes, it shouldn't be a problem. Clean the F-II every 2 weeks or so, and probably it won't deteriorate as fast (but that's just a guess).

No. The FII's factory lube is part of what makes it awesome, I would avoid disassembling an FII at all until it is all dried out completely and has been for a while.

My Rubik's storebought has lasted 1.5 years and is still a speed demon. Not to mention it has a mix of WD-40, Jigaloo, White Lithium, CRC Silicone and Vaseline in it ;). Storeboughts are REALLY sturdy.

Yeah and I doubt you can perform a sub-1 H-perm with that cube

EDIT: a point of sale?! ahahahaaha my loyalties lie with whatever gives me the best deal, not anyone or anything specific.

Your point?

that it's a p.o.s.

Probably but thats not related to the topic. Point is hes had it for a year and a half and has yet to replace it.

Cubes need replacing?
I have used the same cubes for one and a half year and I haven't even seen them show any signs of degredation or in need of replacement?
Does this only happen to me?

The only thing I ever replaced on the cubes are stickers and that happends once every 3 months

I replace them when I feel like it.

And what do you mean by "chinese brands" :/
