How I should continue?

Neatrals01...I dont know am I good advicer to u but I think that u should train 1 step stop solves. Just do everything doing one step as fast as u can then stop...do cube rotations if needed and then do next step and so on... That speed up ur finger tricks...I think u should give it a try!

Thx Escher... I got alway a good hint from u! Now I know what I need to do for a week! cross F2L combination continuing with OLL and PLL but the matter is F2L!!!

Good hint but I want to get there faster mpohl100 ;)

Anyway I dont know how this all happened...It happened so quick...
First week sub 1.10
week more sub 1.00
after one month sub 40
and after 8 week sub 30 (no solve over 35sec)

Last night I was talking with Sn3kyPandaMan and I noticed his good averages as I used to in his signature. I just get "mad" and I was cubing whole night except 3 hours sleep. And then It happened! I dont know what I did, or how I did it or even how I can do it but my average went down A LOT!

Now my best average(10/12) is 26.94sec :):):)

Anyway Im happy that it happened!

Good...just keep on going then like u did last week!
And go for sub 20!
Nice to see u increased skills again :)

I've been following this thread as I started around the same time as you. My virgin solve was on 25th August. It's great to see your fast progress, sub 30 in 8 weeks is really good, I'm still stuck at 40-45. I was just wondering what your progress is in other events like 4x4 and have you tried blindfold yet?

I know tecknique for all sized cubes...Also I know 4 different styles for 3*3*3 :)
My 4*4*4 record is just 4.30min it is kinda bad cause Im just doing 3*3*3 mostly! :D
I dont have 5*5*5 but I solved it first time after 2weeks cubing...It tooks 2hours xD Bad bad bad... :(
I dont have tried 2*2*2 cube cause I cant find one...
Hoping fast progress even I dont believe in fast progress ;)
How about ur other cubes?
U use friedrich too?

Ps. Nice to hear that some1 started at the same time around;) even thought I started 5 days earlier...

yes I use intuitive fridrich f2l, white cross on bottom, 2 look OLL and I know 16 PLLs, best time is 29.92, best average is about 43. Best 4x4 time is 3:29, average about 4:05, best 3x3 blindfold time is 8:07. 4x4 blindfold just looks insane, I won't be trying that just yet.

edit - I just beat my 3x3 bld pb - 7:55.38 yay.

I've got an eastsheen set on the way, so I'm looking forward to solving the 5x5 and 2x2 as well. I also want a megaminx and square-1 for my collection too.

I must of done quite a lot more big cubes than I thought I previously did...

I avg. about 2 min 10 seconds on my 4x4, and i avg around 4.50 min on the 5x5.

That´s pretty good and better than mine ;) Im bad;)
I think he is using the same tecnic as u but he does that all much faster... :)
I just want to be fast with 3*3*3 until Im sub 20 atleast :D

Hee cookingfat, I am almost at the same level as you, I also solve white cross on the bottom, f2l, 2 Look OLL and I know 14 PLL :p
My best time is much slower 39.02 and the same best average.

Hi Littlegupper, there seems to be a lot of us starting at the same time, lol.

What's slowing me down a lot is bad crosses, and PLL recognition. Because I don't know them all, it takes me a couple of seconds to realise it's one I don't know, and then I have to bust into a 2-look PLL. PLLs I need to learn are 2 of the Gs, Ns, one A perm and relearn the E perm.

my pb wasn't even lucky, unless you count an easy cross and self forming f2l pairs.

at the moment though, I'm concentrating more on increasing my success rate for blindfold, I want at least 50% with an average under 10mins. It's also giving my poor thumb a rest (I got cube thumb)

Hi Cyber,
this is Michael again.
I got some more advices to you:
I recommend practicing the cross by solving it with your eyes closed. just scramble your cube with a CCT scramble and then preplan all 4 pieces close your eyes and time it. maybe an avg of hundred per week is enough for that.

that's the way i did it and now my cross solving avg is 2 seconds or less.

for improving F2L:
what i did was to solve all 4 F2L pairs with my eyes closed.
so i looked at the cube saw a pair and then closed my eyes and then solved it as fast as possible, then take a look at the cube again, see the next pair and solve it again with your eyes closed as fast as possible.
the effect is that your recognition times will fall down quite fast.
the second effect is that it is easier for you to look away from the pair you are solving in order to track other corners or edges.

for OLL:
well therefore i didn't really have a good method.
maybe I'd suggest to look at the fingertricks videos at Bob Burtons Rubik's Cube page:http://www.cubewhiz.com/oll.html

for PLL:
parctice execution by PLL time attacks and also look at the finger tricks videos at http://www.cubewhiz.com/pll.html

to practice recogniton I would suggest this page: http://brunson.com/drillsergeant/
this will help to recognise most PLLs from only 2 sides

so well this is everything i could remember what i did.
good luck with that

Greetings
Michael

michael has some v.good advice :)
his cross solving (& practice method) is rather impressive. i think ill try that myself (my cross solving is very weak)...
on top of that (and i know i say this all the time) practice lookahead! (smooth solves, no pauses)
:D

hey Panda, how long have you been cubing? and how do you solve the 4x4 to get those times?

I've been cubing very, very casually for about a year, and doing some real cubing for about 3 months now. One summer, I broke my only 3x3, so I only had a 4x4, 2x2, and a 5x5 for the like 3 months. I use the advanced methods posted on bigcubes.com I don't use full chain solving on the 4x4 although I know I can, I use 2 edge pairing. That and I have a sub 30 avg 3x3. I use full tredge/2 edge pairing on my 5x5.

Actually Im using those cross and F2L methods...Im working much for create more training methods all the time! I used to find out my own fingertricks but Im gonna check those from cubewhiz. And actually...I recognice all PLLs from 2 side I think!

Anyway, that was good infopackage! Good training methods! It is like one step stop blind solve!:p

And tomorrow it is time for my week 9 solve!:):):)
Check it tomorrow...I will post it as soon a possible!;)

right I see, so you've had quite a bit more practice then, I also use 2 edge pairing and I think my biggest fault is just looking for the pieces to pair up, sometimes it takes over 5 seconds to find one cubie, I suppose my times will come down with more practice then, I seem to be getting faster all the time on the 4x4, but no so much on the 3x3. I will have a look on bigcubes for some tips on the 4x4 too.

Cyber, just wanted to thank you for making this thread. Personally I can only solve the cube 20-30 times a day at a 32 sec average. I would solve more if it weren't for school and other limitations. But that's besides the point, again thanks by directly asking how to get faster you've pretty much all of these dozens of awesome cubers to give you specific methods of increasing your times. Since I'm getting the same times that you did when you started this, I plan on using this thread as a guideline as I get faster. Everytime I advance, month or two later, I can look at what the speedcubers of the world told you to do at that point in your cubing career. Thanks again!

Thx for that...Im happy when some1 can appreciate this thread. That was my point when I started this thread(also for some1 else if some1 needs help just write it here and u gonna get some help!) and nowadays it is for help too... Im running this thread till I go to army and then I will be back to this thread again! This gonna stay until I die xD ok, Im gonna post this stuff until I got sub 10avarage and more...FUNNY!? JUST WAIT! :)

Lol, that will take a while:P.
Another appreciater of this thread here  I use also this thread as a guide for me to get faster. Also, thanks for that and I can't wait to see your following vid :)
