How fast do I need to be to go to competitions?

I didn't get a sub40 average until my 9th contest. Just ignore anyone that says you need (or should have) a sub 1:00 or sub :40, or sub :30 average. Anyone that says that should be punched in the face. If you can solve the cube... you should go.

I agree, go and have fun and learn from those who are faster.

If you're worried about having embarrassing times or something, I would just recommend having at least sub 30. It shouldn't be too hard if you practice for a month or two.

Are you ironic or dumb?

Alright, thanks. I just discovered I can probably go to Nationals. I have some more questions, but I feel they're better suited for a seperate thread. Thanks!

Anyone, any age can go. You just need to solve the cube in the first place.

here's mike hughey's daughter :

She's doing an awful lot of turns for a 56.97s solve, but that's pretty cool anyway.

I can't break 1 minute.

I'd probably go even though I can't break one minute yet. F2L takes me so long to figure out it seems using the Fridrich method. I think I'm faster with Petrus for F2L, and I only know the 2-look OLL/PLL right now. It's still fun and going to a place where everyone else cubes would be neat. I don't know anyone else who cubes right now.
