I've got a question on how to perform algs the fastest (especially PLL algs). When you find algs on the net they are almost always seperated into fingertricks and when I try to study videos of fast solves or instructional videos it looks to me that most people perform the algs like bursts of fingertricks.
But the algs that works best for me are the ones that can be performed in one fluid motion. I've also heard a lot of people talk about the concept of learning to be fluid and then learn speed.
Which is best in the end? Fluid motion or fingertrick bursts (with a minimum of pause between the fingertricks)?

If available, a fluid algorithm is always the best. But many of the algorithms require cube turns, so a fluid algorithm is not always there.

I tend to be faster when throughout the whole solve I use fluid motions instead of finger tricks bursts. But yes I agree too that sometimes fluid motions aren't possible depending on the case you have. In those cases I go for bursts of finger tricks, but maybe at only 90-95% speed. I don't go full speed in order to make sure I can look ahead in the OLL to PLL transition, and same for the PLL so I don't lockup.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for your answers...

Do you think it's individual to each person which algs can be performed in a fluid motion or would it be possible to compile a list of "fluid algs"?

The J perm I do (I think it's J, I didn't learn them by their names) feels very fluid to me. I do the F' with my left index finger.

R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U'

Would this be a general fluid alg?
