Any tips on how to improve turning speed during F2l as my lookahead is improving but it seems most of the cases(I take a lot of moves to insert the pair)??
PS.Stuck around 11-12 seconds on f2l(Also could i be using pretty bad insertion cases)

Just wondering how many moves should each pair take on average??

Thanks -David

First solve:
1. Good cross
2. For the first pair, I would've done U2 (you can see the pair made there), then R U' R', then rotated to insert the pair, or you could do R' F R F'.
3. For the third pair, you could have done y L' U' L U*2 or if you're bad with your left hand, R' F R F'*2
4. For the fourth pair, R U2 R' U' R U R'.

Second solve:
1. Nice x-cross lol
2. Can't really tell what number pair it is, but it's the BY pair - that's a horrid case. If the slot was in the BR, I would normally do R U R2 U' R (you might not be able to tell what I'm saying, but you'll see if you set it up yourself). Since the slot is in FR, I would probably have to resort to doing U2 R U R' which would make a pair. From there, you can do F R' F' R or just rotate and insert.
3. Fourth pair was quite hard to see, but judging from 1:23, it looks like the edge is in place correctly, and the corner is at LUF. If so, the easy solution would be U2 R U' R' U2 R U' R'.

It seems you use a lot of unnecessary moves while solving pairs. Do an example solve (in text). Do it in the format of the Example Solve Game, and I'll give you my solution.

Seems like I have the same problem, but i think mine stems from trying to go too quick. Making stupid decisions means that it has a detrimental effect on the positioning of the next F2L pair etc. Slow solves seem to be reaping rewards for me. Thinking of investing in a metronome, just build it up by 1 bpm every few days, I mean this is a hobby for life, I'm in no rush =)

For metronome training http://www.metronomeonline.com/ can save investment in a physical device.

Metronome practicing honestly never worked for me. And it's not really that practical either. F2L is more of an accelerated step (for me). There's no real point in staying slow for the last pair.

OT: Looking at the walkthrough solves, the only thing I'd point out besides what JyH said is that you should really cut down on cube rotations. It seems like you're making them far too many times.

See, when you finish your cross, you do a u or u2, unless you find edge pairs by doing this, hy not do a D or D2 so you can find anything that might be on the top layer faster. (lol, I'm bad at explaining). Basically, its hard to see what is on the top layer while its moving, so move the bottom layer instead.
