F perm, the new member!

O don't think the F-Perm was the wisest choice you could have done ;)
Welcome to the interwebz of speedcubing.

edit: why the heck does the wink-simley laugh?

Just some questions:
Is one month sub 30 stellar, mediocre, or terrible?
What is a good breakdown for CFOP times?
When should one start/finsh learning OLL/PLL/F2L/xCross?
Why do you hate the F perm? :)

Thanks a lot!

F perm

Hey there, nice username. Just like me you'll regret your username after a year. When in comps you're repeatedly referred to as 'F perm'

One month sub-30 is between stellar and mediocre imo... But it depends how fast your progress is. Like your rate of improvement after sub-30.
A good breakdown for CFOP, eh, 2-5-2-2 for sub-12? idk. For your sub-30 just multiply those numbers by 5/2.
For learning OLL PLL and xCross you should do it when you feel like doing it. Most learn PLL at about 25 seconds, OLL a bit later (2look OLL is quite fast), and xcross is something to think about doing. It's possibly a good idea to try right now.
Why do I hate the F perm? Because I hate algs and I hate PLL. Funnily enough I still remember my alg for it despite not using PLL for about a year...

also psst, be CN (unless you want people whinging at you until you are decently fast- imo opposite CN is a good comprompromise.)

Welcome!

I don't know if I ever will be sub 30 let alone in one month, I'd say it's quite an achievement.

@Chrisandstuff & @Ranzha V. Emodrach I'm interested in that F perm as I'm painfully slow with my current one

@kirjava I've been solving CN for a week and the switch was easier than I thought, I'm about the same speed as I was before (about 55 avg) but have the feeling that the crosses will get faster when I optimize inspection, too much too learn for a newbie these days...

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

5BLD, let me guess, do you not actually do 5BLD? :)

Kirjava, I think it would be a good idea to start learning dual cross. I've really kind of put it off.
I'll start today.
How many moves does it save on average?
What are the chances of getting a white cross skip? Color neutral skip?

Thanks!

Although nobody does the F-Perm, welcome to the forum!
i would say, 30 seconds after a months is really okay. I prefer to say its all about the actual time (in hours) you spent cubing.
I myself, (not to boast), had a sub 20 single after a month - that however is because i was totally addicted and have been playing with teh cube 24/7. then it took me 5 monts to get from 20 averages to a 17 pb average, just because i was kind of resting on my laurels. then i switched to ZZ, started cubing everyday again, and got from 17-15 in a month.

so, if you are solving 24/7, try to keep it up! 5BLD has proven you can be sub10 consistently in less than one year. :)

oh and dual cross rocks

It's not really about saving moves. If you're fixed-colour and your cross colour has a bad cross you're in a bad situation, whereas if you're CN you can just pick the best cross out of the six options.

Opposite colour neutrality is really the only sort of colour neutrality worth practising imo

It saves like 1 or 2 i think for full CN or fewer. The main benefit is exploiting lucky cases.

Yes, I do not do 5BLD though I've gotten somewhat good at 3x3. I have been trying to learn 4BLD today...

I agree, assuming you're relatively experienced and started on fixed-colour. If you're new and have the option of doing anything, I don't see how you can argue against CN.

On what grounds do you base this? I am 'dual cross' capiable, and can solve just as fast either way, but I choose to only solve on white becuase I don't believe it gives enough benefit for dual. Either full CN or nothing in my books.
