Before I begin, just wanna say..
I did not find a thread that mainly talked about this topic.
And not sure if this goes under Cube Theory or not.

Ef·fi·cien·cy:
1.
the state or quality of being efficient; competency in performance.
2.
accomplishment of or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort: The assembly line increased industry's efficiency.

Definition taken from here

Lookahead and good recognition plays a big role in a normal speedsolve, but if youre doing over 70 moves, youre gunna need some serious TPS to get low times.
Thats where efficiency comes in. If you can get under lets say 60 moves, with the same TPS and lookahead from before, you can guarantee that your times will be faster.
(Hope we all agree on what I said so far :p )

Now in a method like Roux. Where the goal is to get under 50 moves in a speedsolve. Efficiency is obviously key. Yet this is where I lack the most.

I made this thread for cubers of all methods to discuss ways to make your solve more efficient. Should it be block building or F2L.
I also think this will help beginners and experts equally.

Beginner because they read tutorials and it could say 'First Block under 13 moves'. They will be like 'yeah okay cool...but how?'

And Experts because even though you 'master' your method, you dont know it all.

I have been tring to always get under 60 moves for CFOP and have been working on influencing pairs and learning COLL.

What should I be getting for 4x4 using OBLBL? I get about 170 or something like that. I hear the UWR record is 90 or something like that. What the sub 40ers get?

Is 13 moves for first block considered good? If so you might as well just insert edge then make two pairs <.<
And tbh I don't understand what you want to achieve through making this thread. A discussion of the correlation between speed and move count?

No, for a beginner we say sub-13.
For someone a bit more experienced I recommend sub-10, usually sub-9.
Sometimes we have to go over to allow smooth execution.

What I would like to be discussed are was to make your solve more efficient.
EX: In FB, you can do inserts of 1 move instead of 3. Takes time to understand that unless someone showed you.

We could post examples and explain how to make your solve efficient.

According to definition 2 CFOP seems very efficient: low times and low "effort"
"effort" as in "amount of thinking" required during a solve.
