No, that's not the problem. The problem is that your voiceover is mono so it's only coming out of the left channel. Are you using a lav mic? Lots of lav mics are mono so you have to duplicate the audio channel.

I'm just using my phone camera, the video and audio are recorded together and then the music is added on afterwards.

Check your settings then cuz your voice is in mono. Or just duplicate the channel when editing.
