I also have struggles with last 2 centers on 7x7
the way I make mine a little less inconsistent is make a 3x3 square in the middle (like 5x5 centers), and try to build the rest of the center around it. It's still not great

If your not doing this already, make sure that most of the time you solve the middle bar, and then solve one outer bar. Keep the outer bar on the left, and then solve one inner bar, and then insert that on the left, so that three bars are solved on the left with two bars needing to be solved on the right. You can also make the inner bar first and then the outer bar, but I find that if you do that you aren't always able to make 1 complete outer bar. Basically do whatever is easier/is more efficient. Then solve one inner bar and then inserting that. If you can't insert a piece into the bar then that is fine and you can insert it with commutators at the end. Then solve at least 3 of the pieces for the last bar, but try to make 4 or 5. Then insert the last few pieces with commutators. Everything I said prob didnt make sense with words so here is a few videos:

Both are using redux but same applies to Yau other than the fact that you need to be aware of the cross edges.

I think why the reason I crushed my PBs in this average is that after doing some 7x7 the 6x6 just felt way simpler. My TPS was also much higher than normal.

Reflection on Cubing 2023
This year was definitely my first year of really cubing. By that I mean that instead of just doing solves now and then I started to grind, competed four times and my averages decreased drastically.

Let’s start with 2x2. I went from averaging 9 seconds down to low 5 seconds. Funnily I learned no new algorithms but my TPS increased by a lot. My 2x2 official average went from 9.08 to 4.54 which is exactly 100% improvement.

3x3 was interesting. I started out 2023 averaging 23-25 seconds and from February to June I was grinding everyday. By June I was already sub 16 which was some pretty fast improvement. Then when I got to compete in June I was ridiculously nervous. My averages were way slower than they should have and I took a break going into July and August. Nevertheless I still managed to get a decent average a couple weeks ago. My official average this year went from 26.73 to 14.97 which is 78.56% improvement.

4x4. I love this event. I did a lot of practice this year and this is definitely the event I am most proud of my progress. My official average went from 1:36 all the way to 56 which is massive improvement.

5x5 was one of the events I practiced the least mostly because I only had one competition with it. Even so I dropped my PR single from 3:40 to 2:07.

This was first year doing 6x6 and it has become one of my favorite events. I don't practice it as much as I want to but not many comps have it.

Pyraminx I more solves at comps than outside and I still managed to make finals out of 70 people. I did manage to drop my average from above 20 to less than 10 seconds.

Skewb is a similar similar story but as I wen from around 20 seconds to about 8 seconds.

It’s pretty simple. Just make sure you know 4 look last layer and beginner F2L. I personally used full PLL though. Then basically just grind and sub 20 shouldn’t be that hard.
