[Help Thread] Cubing Injuries?

Why does my non dominant turning hand hurt?

ive only been cubing like 2 hours a day and my non turining left hands hurts while my rights hand is super fine and that right is what i do most of my turning with!

You might be gripping the cube really tightly with your left hand without realising it. I tend to do that sometimes... You don't know you're doing it and suddenly you find yourself really sore XD

I tore a fingernail last week. Didn't bother me at the time, but while it's been healing the nail bed got very red and swollen for a couple of days. It's my left ring finger, which apparently I use for double-flicks on D and for some M moves, because they're been REALLY painful for a few days!

I solved my 9x9, slammed it on the table. It was a bit too far off the edge so it fell and hit my nuts. I jumped up and down in pain. Now I might have another hernia ;/

A couple years before I started cubing, I had a wrist surgery to clean up some shredded ligaments. My first few months on the original Rubik's cube would hurt my wrist sometimes. But now I have a whole collection of speed cubes that don't seem to hurt my wrist. At least, when I have discomfort I can't blame it on cubing any more than using a mouse at work all day.

I have something else that is definitely related to cubing. My distal thumb joints pop all of the time (just from normal movement), and this is often accompanied by a discomfort that is relieved after it pops. This is very much like the symptoms I had in my wrist before the surgery. If anyone has similar symptoms, it would be wise to follow this advice: treat it with heat and take it easy for a day or two. You don't want it to get worse.

Yesterday, when I should have been learning the last of my pll algs, I decided trying to force sub 2mins on my 5x5 would be much more fun. And it was. Until I sprained a finger! Yep nice and swollen and useless. I'm on holiday all next week with a huge list of practice exercises waiting. Not happy.
