Hey guys, I've been cubing nearly 2 years, but i stopped for the summer to skate more :) just started up again after the UK Open, I've done quite a few sub 20 solves, non-lucky, I know full PLL, And about 30 OLL cases. (Fridrich) I use intuitive f2l which is not bad, i finish the f2l in about, 11-12 seconds, I'm just wondering what more would it take to break that sub 20 avg, i average 21.34 officially, and 18.83 unofficially, any advice? :D Peace.

If I could do the F2L in 11-12 seconds, I'd be sub 20 now :D My last layer takes 5-6 seconds. My F2L is somewhere between 13-15, and I know full Fridrich.

I'd say memorize full OLL.

Man, I can do the F2L in 14-16 seconds. Till that stage it goes great...unfortunately i suck at the LL for which i generally take about 10-14 seconds (i do know about 45 OLL's). Can't wait for a sub 20 avg!

And yes I agree, even I'd say memorize full OLL

getting faster at f2l got me to sub20. Getting much better look ahead for f2l got me down to 17ish. I dont think my PLL/OLL skills improved in a while... so I would say f2l... and learn oll slwly

Lol yeah, I do look a head the best I can, I think I just perform OLL and PLL veeeery slowly :P but yeah, I'm learning OLL gradually, and trying my best to look a head, I've done a fair few sub 20 solves, but they are not as common as i'd like.

F2L is the way to go. Unfortunately, my look ahead is not consistent. It ranges from 9 to 18 seconds with last average I took at about 14-15.

Edit: My F2L sucks. I've being trying to improve it and it is stuck at this level for a few months.
When I get in the zone, I can average around 10-12 seconds on it, but when I'm not focused, I can average 16-17. :(
Lighting is a very big factor.

11-12 sec f2l is good though, I say practice OLL and PLL recognition/execution

most people would say work on f2l since its the easiest to improve on, BUT since you're already getting good f2l times, why not improve your LL?

Improving your LL does not mean learning the rest of the OLL. There are plenty of cubers out there who average sub-20 using 3LLL.

Obviously, if you're getting close to sub-20, it might be a good idea to start, but I think it's inaccurate to specify it as the reason you're not sub-20. Nor am I convinced that it will get you to sub-20.

Thanks for your replies guys, I know my last layer has been sucking, i execute the algorithms quite slow, in comparison to my last layer, if you look on my youtube page you could see a few of my solves, i've only got one up to date though. thats my 17.71 in the UK Open.

You say your LL sucks!? My F2L is 10-11 seconds and LL is 11-15 seconds... :(

My F2L is 13-15 seconds. I think that's horrible. But, my LL is 6 seconds (I did an average of 10 for LL. It seems that OLL takes ~3 seconds and PLL takes ~ 3 seconds.)

If I can improve F2L, I'll probably be sub 20.

Oh my God, read my post at the first page, we can't be any more similar :D
