Bingus's progression thread: cubing in the works

I memo and execute with white top and green front, but somewhere in execution I messed up a wide move because when I took my blindfold of it was green top, yellow front.
Maybe try doing some sighted solves, or just practicing your setup moves? Also make sure you're executing very safely to avoid exec errors(after you get your first success I would recommend speeding up your solves)

3rd 3 blind attempt wasn't great. it was a DNF. I mistraced edges, and I knew I did midway through memo, but kept going anyway. I also forgot corner memo, I am thinking about executing corners first. I did however have parity, and I successfully did it between edges and corners. I will keep trying, will probably do another attempt tomorrow.

Can you give an example of what you're memorising(e.g. ReD CaT is eating a SoFa)? I could try to help improve your memo quality so that you don't forget memo.

Comp recap

First round of 3x3 went well. Got a 10.62 single, which was really nice. I was getting some 12's in warmup,so I was expecting something good. I was really nervous on the last solve, and I messed up a couple of times, but I held it together and got a 14. 13.93 average

4x4 first round. first solve, overall PB single. Then had some other decent times, but kinda choked on the last solve. Had double parity, so it was a 1:07. 1:01.92 average, which I was happy with.

3blind. I wasn't expecting to get a success. And I didn't. I wasn't to mad about it.

6x6. Cutoff was 4 minutes. I got 4:08. I was close, and I knew it. I messed up on L4E, and had PLL parity. Could've gotten it, but oh well.

Next was OH. I was really looking forward to this. I got a 30. Starting out poorly. Then a 26. Decent. Then a DNF because the timer didn't start. It was probably a 25. Next was 29, which is bad, but I overturned and ended with a pair out when I stopped the timer. I was really y upset, as you can imagine, having DNF'ed what I was most looking forward to. I didn't care about my last solve, it was a 27.

Next was 4x4 second round. I was not in the headspace to do this. But then I got 2 56's and a 58. Then a 1:14. I messed up the color scheme, and had double parity. I then got a 48.02. Overall PB by 2 seconds, beating the 50 in the first round. It was my first sub 50, almost first sub 48. I was really happy about this.

TheN I had 3x3 second round. I performed pretty good, except the second solve where I messed up cross and got saved by a PLL skip. I was nervous going into the last solve again, but this time I did not hold it together. I messed the cross, had bad LL cases and got a 19🤮 Still a decent average, 15.03.

5x5 was my last event. I started out good with a 1:55. Then a 1:50(overall PB) Then a 2:02. Then a 1:55 and a 1:59, leading to a 1:56(overall PB) average.

Overall this was a fun comp, had a great time.

I will be focusing less on blind, and more on side events. Specifically Clock, Skewb, and Square-1.
@CubeLite would you please critique a skewb average if I DM'd you?
Let me know what clock method I should learn, I currently average about 11-12 seconds with flip. I don't really want to memo a bunch, I was thinking about 10mm.
I will get a MGC squan here soon hopefully, then I will grind and learn algs.
I'm kinda washed at Pyra, and haven't really been learning L4E. I also have been lazy will OLL, and CLL.

Thanks in advance for any feedback, Bingus out.

Sure

I came very close to getting a PB ao5 the other day, I had 3 12s and a 17(don't worry about it) and I was on like sub 13 pace on my last solve. In the middle of an A perm I looked at the timer and saw It was a good solve, but I stopped turning well and got a 14. So PB fail. Don't look at the timer people. It's serious. It affects millions of people every year.

Other news, I started learning CLL. For real this time. I plan to learn 1 a day.

I am a little sick rn, so expect less PB's and updates.

I have been grinding Periodic Table Cube, it's lowkey really fun. If you don't know what that is, It's a 3x3 with a different color scheme with elements on it that turns terribly. I got a 17.77 single, more in my PB sheet.

My next comp is March 1st, it has 3-5, Clock and Skewb. I am guaranteed to keep my PR streak as I haven't competed in clock before, and not in skewb for a year.

Thanks for reading, Bingus out.

Got the MGC squan, and immediately a PB average.

Liking the Qiyi MS Pro BC quite a bit. Gan skewb needs some setup out of the box.
Comp on March 1st, goals, mains below

3x3: Sub 15 average, sub 13 single. Using the HuDong, Gan 15 as backup.

4x4: Sub 1:02 average, sub 1 single. Using the MGC. No backup

5x5: Sub 2:10 average, sub 2 single. Using the Qiyi MP. No backup.

Clock: Sub 13(?) average, sub 12 single. Using the Qiyi clock. No backup.

Skewb: Sub 7 average, sub 6 single. Using either the Gan or RS, with the other one as backup.

My nemesis, who shall be named "I'm Faster Than This Kid Guy" is attending the comp, and competing in all events. My goal is to beat him in every event. NxNs should be easy, he is better than me at some side events though. Clock will be the hardest to beat him at.

Thanks for reading, Bingus out.

Today I was challenged by my father to get better at Pyra. I plan to learn full L4E this month, my goal is to get a 7.62 average or better in my comp in November.
Is L4E a good idea? I average sub-8 with intuitive, and also what are other good pyras I should get? I currently main the weilong.
Did your father just approach you and say. "I challenge you to get better at Pyraminx!" and then walk away

Nope. It kinda came up in conversation, and he said to get better at Pyraminx.

Other news, I got a mirror blocks. Haven't timed myself yet, but I can solve it. I also plan to do another 3blind attempt today.
