Hi,this is my first post,so hopefully this is decent.Lets just get right into business.I really want to get into big cubes like 5x5,6x6,etc.I am not bad at centers, but when it comes to edges, that is when I get down.I use redux, and I average like 6 mins on 5x5,so I need help.Do you recommend look ahead practice? If so how to practice it.Should I just keep on practicing? Also some algs would be really useful and helpful. If you have any questions,I would like to try and help you too. Also make sure to check out my YouTube channel,DB Cubes. Thanks so much!Bye!

Well for solving edges on 5x5 (this method works on any size big cube I even use it on 13x13) is free slice edge edge pairing. It's considered an advanced method but its actually pretty simple IMAO its the easiest way to pair edges. There are tutorials on youtube for it but to sum it up after solving your centers you designate a top and bottom of the cube and pair your edges in the "middle or horizontal layers".Once you complete an edge you store it on the top or bottom of the cube until you've solved 8 of 12 then slice the middle layers back together and solve the last 4 normally. The only new alg you need to learn is for flipping an edge R,U,R',F,R',F',R. As for look ahead I would say practice free slicing until you get comfortable with it and the try to look for your next edge while turning slowly and your speed will increase over time. At least thats what worked for me. I'm not 100% sure but from watching their solve I'm pretty sure Felix and Kevin Hays use free slice. Hope this helps.

Thanks!I will make sure to practice that and try for what you say. Thanks for replying! It will always help!

Welcome!

Go through and watch reconstructions or example solves, and see how others solve. At your stage it's a matter of practicing to understand the pieces more and practicing for recognition. Work on only making moves that are necessary, so work on reducing your movecount. Stay consistent in practice and your times will come down. Everyone goes through these stages.
