Because I'm going to uni this autumn, and I was wondering, does anyone else here go to a uni or college where they have a Rubik's cube club?
I don't know of any cubing communities around where I'm from (Leicester).
Also, are there any English people here from York or Birmingham?

If you start one up and put up posters I'm sure you'd find people...

I ran one at College last year, nobody decent turned up but there were a good 5 people who could solve it and actually enjoyed it.

There used to be one at Cornell (my local university), but there isn't one anymore. :(

Ya but I think its only for the US mainly, it doesn't have canadianCUBING

Fixed.

Neither is SveKub. A nice entry would be

Swedish Cube Association (www.svekub.se) - Recognized by the WCA as the official Swedish national organization.

Well, why not include the whole list at http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/node/321

Done, I added the entire list.

Also, Edward, I think that Florida will probably have a competition in the near future now that Chris moved. ;)

By the way, Tim, the website listed as the "Philippine Cubers Association" on the WCA website appears to be out of date. The new website that I listed on the wiki is http://pinoycubers.org/. Thanks.

Generally we don't actually have meetings; we just hang out during both DeCals and the tournaments. You're welcome to come and teach (or just lounge around...).

Also, sign up for Berkeley Summer! (ca.cubingusa.com/berkeleysummer2010)

Also, Anthony, I think our thing was started in 2005. Can you put a link to berkeleycubeclub {at} gmail [dot] com for our name? Thanks =)

I changed the date, but I'm not sure how to link to an email.
However, anyone can edit the wiki, if you know how to do that, go for it.

That sounds awesome! I'll be sure to check it out. Generally how fast are the people in the club? I'm guessing it's probably like a huge split between casual cubers who do it just for fun while there's some more hardcore people with really really fast times.

There wasn't a club at either the university I did my undergrad or at the one where I'm doing my post grad., I think your chances are pretty slim. =( I also have a very good friend who goes to Birmingham and he certainly would have mentioned to me if they have a speedcubing club there. I've met a few other people who can solve the cube, but never another speedcuber.

Anyway, people don't go to university for cubing. They go for Fresher's Week.

I'd say there is a large range; we have people sub 13 and people super 30... and I wouldn't say any of us are really super hardcore; we just do it when we hang out? =P

Thanks for the info guys.
I guess I won't be too hopeful then. I can always start one up :p
My friend started a juggling club at school last year. The school has around 2000 people, and like 15 people went to this club.

I'm quite surprised, there are like 22,000 students at Birmingham.
