As long as each of the pieces on the puzzle look and feel the same, it should be legal. I see no reason why modding would hurt eligibility except if pieces were damaged.

Yeah, unless nothing is noticeable from the outside.
Like a different core on a cube is allowed.

Anything from the inside is fine as long as it is not electronics.

The outside should be uniform in color and texture.

I did this mod to my RS3M and it is still allowed in a comp so don't worry
