In this thread you can read that Mark Boyanowski has Aphantasia. He made videos, how he memorizes - for me it was very interesting. Here's his first

I am not sure if aphantasia affects 3bld very much because my PB for 3bld is 38 seconds (m2/op) with a 12 second memo.
Sorry for the big bump as I felt this topic needs some clarification and a revisit.

Yeah Aphantasia is more crucial for long term memorization and the multi blind event.

I feel people preemptively judge themselves to have aphantasia,

Visualization is a slow and deliberate process and everyone can reach there with enough hours put into the long term memorization activity.

For example, I don't see the memory sports community discuss aphantasia too much and top athletes or memorizers do not have problem with visualizations.

I don't think I have aphantasia, but my visual memory is kinda weird.

If someone says "apple" I don't imagine a particular color of apple. sometimes the word "A P P L E" appears written in my imagination or maybe the logo of the company Apple. it really depends.

but my memory is really vivid for stuff like architecture and spacial stuff generally.

I can "play" some videogames in my mind pretty accurately, like tony hawk pro skater 2, super mario world, sonic and Worms armageddon. I have the physics down, the soundtrack, the graphics, and the muscle memory. I can play it almost perfectly. I like to imagine playing those games when I can't sleep and it's calming, kinda terapeutic

Also for cities I lived and places I went too, I can walk around and see stuff around, it is "just there"

Incorrect. I can, unequivocally, not voluntarily conjure anything remotely resembling a visual picture within my mind. No matter what, when I close my eyes, there is naught but black (unless a light is on). I will sometimes dream but they are very vague and blurry, and I forget details immediately after waking up, plus dreams don’t count as voluntary. I’m unable to “re-enter” the dream or picture a certain part of the dream at all.

no if they have aphantasia lol

it's the same of saying everyone can see colors without enough practicing

I think they were making a comparison that saying a person with aphantasia can visualise with practice is like saying a colorblind person can see colors with practice.
I believe diagnosing Aphantasia is much more complex

Than diagnosing someone with color blindness. I feel it is easier to transform the brain to start visualizing better, although I need to research more into this line of thought.

Dude I'm gonna be honest I barely know anything on the subject and even I know you have no clue what you're talking about

I've been trying my whole life and never even gotten a tiny bit of an image
It's weird for me to dream, because it happens in the form of words, almost like they're scrolling across my empty mind, and then I'm reading them. Then I take those words and replace them with images or pictures of things I have seen. It almost becomes a slideshow, sometimes my brain even adds transitions like a Google slide!
