Can one of you sub-30 OH cubers make a video of a OH solve going slow and explaining what you see and why, etc. I am interested to see the differences in how you do it. Thanks

I made one before but never uploaded it... Because it was filmed with the cube in one hand the camera in the other and then me driving my car on the highway all at the same time lol.
Edit: My best average is only 31.xx

Gilles,
I remember watching that awhile back, and yes, it was helpful. However, would you do a scramble, and do a single solve just going through explaining what you are doing and seeing as you do it, maybe like 3x slower than normal solving (but do the solve with the same moves you would most likely use during a full speed solve; this way I know what you are seeing, etc.). If you list the scramble you used, it would allow me to follow it easier.

Thanks

wouldn't this have been a better beginning?

I like how you do those double layer turns one-handed!

I had my personal best yesterday: 32.95 with keyhole and full 4 look last layer. It just had perfect flow and didn't feel fast at all, just fluent.

wow that's pretty fast. good job!

hey gilles how fast is your F2L and LL for OH? cuz i'd like to eventually get sub 30 one day, hopefully before the end of the year. i'm gonna starting training OH after i receive the DIY that i bought and i'm gonna make that my 2H cube and change my 2H to my OH cube.

also, for ur OH cubers out there, do you guys loosen the screw on the DIY for OH?

thanks

Gilles, excellent, just what I was looking for, thanks.

I just use any loose cube for OH, but not too loose. OH lockups are horrible.

yea i tend to want to help with my other hand, but i hold back, haha.

what's ur time breakdown pjk ?

Gilles, you are wonderful !

For some reason, I like this comment a lot. ^^
Thanks :)

As for my time breakdown (when my hands are warmed up, meaning averaging around 21 seconds), Cross and F2L are done in about 13 seconds, then 4 seconds for OLL and 4 seconds for PLL.

In the competition, it varies a lot because I am quite lucky (I have had several OLL/PLL/LL skips in competition, not to mention some F2L pair skips).
And my official times are quite slow in comparison with my "at home" times (25/21 = 1.19 ==> My official times are 19% longer than they should be.).
So in conclusion, I do terribly bad in the OH competitions. :p (OK 25 seconds average is not so bad, but in comparison with 21...)

I just watched the video again because I just learned the way to do G perms that uses the double layer spin, you do it very nicely I find the double layer very awkward and slow.

It comes with practice. ;-)

Otherwise you can use the L, U and R moves G perms.
These are also very good for One-Handed cubing.

Yes, those are the ones I learned first. it is weird because for the LUR ones i use the corners for recognition and double layer turn ones its the 2x1 block.
