Ah, this method. I came up with it back in the summer of 2006 when I first learned about the notorious ZB method and Duncan Dlcks's L2L methods. Let's take a look at a little bit of history:
July 2006: I was looking around on the Petrus page and saw the Step6+7 index. All those algs looked really fast! However, it kinda sucked if you're using Fridrich F2L; you would have to orient edges and permute corners. Having seen the ideas in L2L, I decided to try something else out: inserting two middle layer edges to permute corners and then orient edges. This was a dumb idea, and the algs were too long. I pretty much only told Daniel Beyer about this.
August 2006: Let's change one of those middle layer edges with a corner. Corner + CP, Edge + EO. This was faster by 5-6 HTM, I think. I distinctly remember Beyer saying it's much better.
July 2007: I posted on TP and this is where the term "2GLL" was born; I think that was the actual title of the thread. At this point, I still hadn't even learned any algs yet! I quickly learned all 50 cases except for the Pi cases (don't know why). I would only use this ocassionally, and by now, I've forgotten all the 4th pair algorithms.
October 2007: I got my ass back on #rubik, and I talked extensively (read: briefly) with Johannes Laire about Petrus method, and he said he used tricks like WV. MGLS was starting to surface in places, and Lucas Garron said that MGLS was very well-suited for Petrus. Here, I thought to myself, maybe this method would be awesome with Petrus. I was right.
Present Method:
1-4a: same as Petrus
4b: pair CE, CE algorithm to permute corners (six cases).
5: 2GLL
Overview:
-LL has obviously stayed the same.
-2GLL is best suited for Petrus.
-Corner Slots > Edge Slots
When I switch to Petrus (this might be awhile), I feel I might use this again. Good luck to anyone who's trying this out in any way (Fridrich variant, or whatever).
