2x2 first layer help

I use ortega and am learning cll. (actually im learning coll)
I average in the 6 second range but sometimes I have trouble making the first layer is a few moves. any help? I can predict oll if the first layer is 2 moves or less and sometimes when it is 3 moves.

Word of advice: DO NOT use COLL for 2x2 (except a few cases like sune/niklas)

yes and they unnecessarily preserve edges, and on the 2x2 there are no edges.

but if you learn coll you can use it on any cube (very useful for 4x4 redux (search it))

yeah i also need help in 4x4 lol. i use reduction. Are you saying it is very useful for 4x4 because of pll parity?
i have learned cases 1-12, 37, 38, and 39 from http://cubewhiz.com/coll.html

which should i relearn for 2x2? and which are ok?

this is kind of thing i wanted. i knew there was something good, i just couldnt find it. and an oll skip!
