I apologize if there is a thread on this; I did not locate one using the search.

I was wondering if any CN people use it on bigger cubes.

I only have a 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 atm and am CN and 2x2 and 3x3.
I remember reading CN is probably bad on big cubes but I can't remember.
When I am learning(yau, 323 atm) I can't help but notice best opposite centers on the first step.
I am only doing white and yellow atm but I'll always notice better choices

Tl;dr Is CN bad on 4x4x4 and up?

I think I recall seeing people doing CN. As long as you practice, because you need to form the centres in the right order (pieces you haven't had to deal with so much on lesser cubes) and it might be difficult to start with.

IMO the relitive low move count of 3x3 makes the few moves saved my being colour neutral worthwhile, anything bigger and the benefit fades. However everyone has there own opinion, it it boils down to personal choice.

CN for just the 3x3 stage, or for redux?

In case it matters to you, I am totally CN on bigcubes. For redux I can start with any opp centre pairing. In saying that, I do have preferences: I prefer blue/green on even cubes, and I usually start with white on 7x7 (for 5x5 I do anything). I only deviate from these preferences if there is something obviously good on another colour/colour pairing. For 3x3 stage I just go with whatever catches my eye.

NOTE: I don't use yau, and I can't imagine yau+CN would work well at all.

Apparently some people manage CN yau. I'd imagine it takes some practice to know your color scheme well enough, but it seems pretty cool.

I seem to remmber Jayden McNeill being CN on 4x4 with yau and then switched to W/Y and beat all his PBs almost instantly (correct me if im wrong) so probably not that good of an idea for yau, but im CN centres on 5+. Just look for the best start

*McNeill :p

Yeah, I find that there's basically no advantage to being CN on 4x4. All you'll get is easy first 2 centers and maybe a cross edge at best.

I'm a CN Yau solver and like Jay said, I really only see the first 2 centers as better. But i don't think about being CN, so its like having decent first 2 centers most of the time.

For centres of even ordered big cubes (4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10) I do not use CN. But I do so for odd ordered big cubes (5x5, 7x7, 9x9, 11x11)..

I use CN for the 3x3 solves in all cases.
