Oyay! Looks good for now, but I'm more interested in the cubic version. I also hope some top 4x4ers got a hold of the cube and will make a review also.

I'm actually really interested in getting this cube, but dat price tho. I'm going to need more convincing.

Fanboy too much ?

Him being a fanboy doesn't change the quality of the review. In fact, I think it means he gives more information about the V-cube 4 which is what I would like. Some people tend to take waay too long in comparing cubes than actually reviewing the new one.

RE X-cube copy: I am disappointed that V-cubes didn't ask for permission to use this mech, but I do think that it will work very well for this cube. I am slightly disappointed, although I will probably still buy one. Perhaps we could try and get the full story from both sides and work out exactly what's happened?

Using the mech would've been fine if they hadn't tried to stop others from using their mech.

However, I doubt xb27 has any legal rights to the design.

Just because something is legally ok doesn't make it morally ok.

I don't see any patents were in place? That's buisness. I consider people who refuse to use Shengshou cubes as pathetic. Do they also refuse to use non Edison lightbulbs?

Edit: that was rhetorical, don't give me no Joseph Swan/[insert name here] noncence.

The point is that they're happy to steal other people's products when they complain about people stealing theirs.

It's not a legal issue at all, we're just pointing out how they're being dicks.

The point is that Shengshou 'stole' V-cubes desig an made a better cube that the Verdes, and now V has 'stolen' The X cube design, and although the dury is still out, I imagine it isn't a good as the X-cube.

I heard that V-cubes even stole the name V-cubes. A twisty puzzler, whose name begins with V, made A puzzle with spme sort of V-shaped cut in the faces (dont ask me for the name I don't know), he was a Fan of Verdes' company but it was then called something else? iirc it was named "insert greek letter" cubes. He sent a picture of his puzzle in to a fan section on their site and said hey look it's my 'V-cube'! Then Verdes changed the company name. Said puzzler was intimidated to confront, an isn't even allowed to sell his handmade puzzles under the name.

Source? Also, they used to be called Olympic Cubes.

It's what the puzzler actually told me himself.

edit: ahh yeah olympic cubes that's the one. knew it was greek related :p

I assume that this is about the guy who made the UFO Mod called the V-cube?
After doing some research, This guy made his V-cube (UFO Mod) in Late 2007: Source: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8255
However, Verdes registered v-cubes.com in Early 2006 (Source: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=88947#p88947) The implication is that verdes had planned that name for a while, so since V-cubes did come first on this one, it does make sense that they don't let him sell as a V-cube because of brand confusion.

I did watch the MM&P video on the V-Cube 4. From what I saw, they used the X-Cube 4 way of resolving the un-modded out of the box V-Cube 6 issues on the V-Cube 4.

Again, the V-cube 4 patent has the V-Cube 4 being "clicky" just like the V-Cube 6. So again, like the V-Cube 3, they went outside their patent for the V-Cube 4.

The whole story of the "memyselfandpi" V-cube 6 mod is this:

A youtube user called "MasterNZ" suggested a way to remove the issues with a new in box V-Cube 6. "Memyselfandpi" refined the idea and made a Youtube video
showing his "memyselfandpi" mod or simply the "pi" mod. Then X-Cube 4 creator XB27 put the full "pi" mod built into his cube. Then Shengshou used the full "pi" mod
for their even layered cubes (ie 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8). Then V-Cubes used the full "pi" mod for their new V-Cube 4. I guess in time that the re-tooled V-Cube 6 and the
yet to be released V-Cube 8 and V-Cube 10 will also use the full "pi" mod as well.

So in all, a long tale for a cube mod with a rich history.
