[Unofficial] Feliks Zemdegs 4x4 avg5: 32.75

He's not cn. He starts on yellow each time. Not that cn with Yau is easy.
Edit: he starts on white on the first solve he must be dual colour.

It was kinda easy for me to become CN with yau, what I did was do an avg of 12 with each cross colour and then I was pretty much used to building any cross with any colour.

He betrayed us... But I'm not so weak, I'll stay with 32223 till the end!
I had always seen Yau as experimental... Until Feliks himself picks it up. :) Well done Faz!

Yeah I was kinda relying on Feliks/Giovanni + others to keep pushing standard reduction to its limits so that I wouldn't have to switch, but now Feliks, Erik, Milan etc have switched. The only fast 444ers left who still use standard reduction are Giovanni (not sure if he cubes anymore) and a handful of asians like asia, nakaji, yu sajima, jonathan tan etc. It might be the case that in Asia, the method isn't that that well known, but I think I read somewhere that Mitsuki Gunji used it for his 30.xy single at the world championship 2011. Also, Yu Byeong-Seon (who appears to average sub 40) definitely uses it. Here's his youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/dbqudtjs

Great average Feliks! Keep working on the cross building haha

So... You didn't want to switch to your own method? O:

another Yau convert...

I'm still sticking to 32223 <3
I shall become awesome with it =.=

btw, what happened to Giovanni?! I haven't seen anything from him forever. He was my favorite cuber, and inspired me to take on 4x4 D;

I'm CN on 3x3, and I use Yau. I should really start using CN Yau. Or get half decent with a lolmethod for fun. It's weird that so many top cubers have switched method, I didn't see that coming. I wonder when/if we will see it happen again, maybe on a different puzzle (it would be fun to see Roux become the 'standard' 3x3 method.)

He stopped cubing at the end of last year, after the World Championship, as he said in this thread (old italian cubing forum).
To sum up is message, he was very busy with other hobbies and decided to stop cubing; maybe he will come back in the future, he doesn't know yet.

I think that the reason so many cubers switch from redux to Yau is that, in many ways, they are very much alike. It took three days of practice for me to beat all of my PBs with Yau. Roux and CFOP do have some things in common but is very different at the same time. The fact that I would have to "start over" if I switched to Roux from CFOP is really discouraging and that's the main reason that I don't switch.

Like a guy once said:
"Going from beginner's LBL to CFOP is like taking the training wheels off a bike. Going to Roux is like putting the bike aside and ignoring it, and starting to learn gymnastics instead." -Dominate

Really? I'm starting to think I should have done that. But no videos were of people being cn and obviously I learnt off a video tutorial.

You don't need to see anyone else being CN to do it for any particular method - it's an option for all of them. When you use any method you get to pick which colour schemes you make use of, either not CN at all, fully CN, or anywhere in between.
